John Southland arrived today!

Obviously the transparencies aren't done yet but does anyone have any comments about this re-skin? :lol:

Hi
I think you can successfully use a simple loco model, if it is then skinned carefully using photo real textures.
However if its done using plain paint textures , then the model structure must be more detailed and the textures must be blended much more complicatedly.
Black is one of the hardest colours to do convincingly in msts.

Good work on John Southland,

Have you textured the front with chevrons....?

Oddly enough, I think that John Southland looks better than Captain Howey, despite the black. It's probably because you have inserted some vent grills.

you are missing the single door between the name plate and the bonnet end, i.e. from cab to bonnet, double doors (engine), perkins badge, double doors (engine), John Southland/Captain Howey nameplate, single door (air tank & radiator).

It's good, but not as good as Captain Howey...I think that's just because I prefer the blue livery.

Yes, I believe that is what the livery is based on

I can see what you mean - I might have a go at some photo texturing if I could lay my hands on a few photographs

Hi Everyone!

I have modified Captain Howey so that it now looks more like it should do!
(It is still awaiting painting it's RH&DR on it's sides though) - Thanks to Tim Gray for getting me some photographs which I have worked from. :D

<IMG width="720" height="540" SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php ... aphmod.JPG">

A front view of the new loco.I need to align the windows on this side but that shouldn't be hard. Also of note is the cab textures!

<IMG width="720" height="540" SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php ... phmod2.JPG">

A shot from the nameplate showing the nameplate and the engine covers.

<IMG width="720" height="540" SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php ... phmod3.JPG">

The photo bogies (which need to be made transparent!)
Comments?!

Once again thanks to Tim for supplying the photos! 8)
