This is a Baldwin 4-6-0, yes? I just started reading Tom Rolts autobiography again yesterday and he recounts that when he was a boy his first ever footplate ride was on the Baldwin of the Gyln Valley Tramway at Chirk to Ceiriog. So another reason for me to build the GVT one day. I'm a big fan of Rolt and for those who don't know he was instrumental in starting up the IWA and did much in the early days of saving the Tallylyn so he's done us all proud. He's also written some unsurpassed biographies of some great engineers such as Brunel, Stephenson and Telford.

Yes, it is a Baldwin. They were used on the Ashover, Welsh Highland, Glyn Valley and the Snailbeach rlys.

I like Rolt as well and class "Railway Adventure" (the story of the early years of the Talyllyn preservation) as one of my favourite books.

Yes the Welsh Narrow Gauge and the British preservation owes a lot to Tom Rolt, without his insight and practical and financial input, I seriously doubt if the Talyllyn would have happened. Surley the best tribute to him must be TR No.7 'Tom Rolt', who is an absoloute dream to fire on, and to clean!!! Do you have any plans for No.7 Kev???

Just to say, well done again Kevin on Peggy, it looks great and is somewhat interesting to drive!!! It stalled last night with 4 ffes bogies & the corris brake van on the back, trying to climb one of the gradients on my route in the rain!!!

Love the rear cab view aswell, that is really cool, being able to see back across the bunker.

I don't think the baldwins were particularly powerful loco's in real life.
I am planning a Glyn Valley Baldwin. (it will need parts remaking before issue) as well as a couple of versions of the Welsh Highland 590.
