Hi,

Does anyone have a set of drawings, or any basic information, on SRRL 2-6-2 No. 24, or more importantly, the 15 inch version?

Just i'm after it in the below livery for a donationware project



and wouldn't mind an exclusive model, or repaint!

SR&RLR No.24 was very different the famous 15" loco seen above. When the model was first built at the Fairbourne it was a pretty accurate model, however it was a poor steamer and the repacement bolier which was fitted while at Kirklees has a much deeper firebox which dramatically altered the apperance of the locomotive - lossing its attractive sleek lines for ever but gaining hugely in performance. Many other performance based improvements were made during the locomotive's time at Kirklees.

The result is that the old Fairbourne No.24 is really very different now and its link to the original No.24 is tangable to say the least.

Therefore though I doubt drawings for No.24 would really help much in making a model of the 15" loco - although I wouldn't moan if a model of a full size No.24 appeared

Also of interest is the livery applied at Kirklees, carred original by a 3ft 2-8-0 nicknamed "the bee".

She did run in her original Fairbourne form at the Bure Valley for a while-so you could get away with a model of the original for 15" gauge-but you couldn't paint it in that livery. Also, I've found that you can't just half-size a 2x scale 2' gauge model and end up with a 2x 15" version-I tried that for my Mad Bess skin, it came out far too samll-fortunatley no-one seems to have noticed yet!

Its the loco in its Kirklees form i'm after really, suppose I could model it using drawings, but freelance for the other bits?

The livery is not that like the "Bumble Bee" of the D&RGW, it could have been inspired by the original, but it is not it. Here is a picture of a rather nice model of the C16 to compare with the Kirklees Fairbourne locomotive.

http://www.rmirailworks.com/ makes an engine named "Sandy River", however I don't know if it's anything like the one you're talking about.
(Don't hurt me I haven't been around in a long time! )
