Warbler Locomotive and Carriage Works, NEWS

Post by Garthion »

Hi all,

Just a quick note, as I'm reskinning a few locomotives for my route, and working on a set of Coaches for Robert159's B&SR route  I have decided to call my reskinning/coach building activities the above works, this thread will post news related to my reskins/coaches and is here for any feedback (positive or otherwise) about any of my work.

Current projects:

1:
Tim Elsby has granted me permission to reskin his model of the Welshpool's Orion into the BIG steamer for my 3ft line, I plan to relivery it into my standard lined blue (you all know what it looks like by now don't you?) and rename it in memory of my Dog "Megan" who had to be put down on the First (this month) after her liver failed. Work completed so far includes renaming, new plates made  and highlighting the tank side rivets, further work on which is planned soon.

Click the image to zoom in

Above: Progress so far on "Megan" will be re-numbered before too long, number yet to be decided upon!

2:
Coaches for the JLR line of Robert159's B&SR route, this will be my first forray into 3D model making and will be constructed in both truescale and 2X scale with two different liveries, plans have been drawn up but so far I have not yet started on the construction side of things. Once construction commenes I will notify you all.

So this thread is for me to inform people how my locomotive and carriage work is comming along, instead of using the route thread, and for you, the people who download my reskins to make any comment, good or bad, (preferrably good  ) about ANY of my reskins. I will also, at some point post a set of links to all of my reskins for easy Download.

Well that is the end for this bulletin, more news when there is some

Work done to the moment, now includes sides painted Warbler blue (not yet linned) and the tank ends have recieved hazzard stripes and on the one tank, the locomotive number (2) see picture below:

Work still to do, paint the boiler caldding, rear of the bunker, cast a new works plate and Number and hand paint the lining  the signwriter will be the last person working on the loco.

The Bodgit and Scarper Engineering Company wish the Warbler Locomotive and Carriage Works every success in their venture and hope to avail themselves of their facilities in the near future.
Although BS&E have their own paint shop, the staff has a tendency to spend more time in the pub across the road that is perhaps conducive to painting!

GOOD LUCK DALE!

Prior to the fitting of the works plates, and the painting of the loco number on the buffer beam :) (couldn't get the number to look right on the cabside :( ) "Megan" gets a breif look outside.

Just before the company signwriter painted her number on her buffer beams, "Megan" showed off her works plate  (Bigger version now as my Avatar)

Finally, the signwritting was complete and "Megan" proudly displayed her Number 2 on both her Buffer beam and left hand tank. The tank number (in the black and yellow part) was there so the loco could be identified after a hard days work  after all, the buffer beams would get cacked in muck and grime over time, and these industrial locos were never cleaned, the model is on a preserved railway so it is kept clean!

Comments welcomed (even encouraged)
End of update, apart from, texture files being sent to Tim for approval before I can upload

If I might make a tiny criticism, I think the smokebox looks a bit washed out - if you'll pardon the pun.

I'd be making that a little darker, and putting a bit extra on the rivet detail - maybe with the emboss function in PSP.

Apart from that - it looks great!
