Hi
Looks like a brilliant project....and would make an excellent and interesting route.
I dont want to put a damper on it....but as you are custom building track sections...and at this early stage(before RE)...perhaps you should consider doing them correctly with the A frame....unless your just going to do it as a fictional type railway.
Cheers

I shall be posting on this subject in this forum from now on (I can't think of anywhere else to put it).
Work on the system continues apace. I now have the necessary allocation of ID numbers for tsection.dat, which has eased my mind a little.
Below are three shots of a proposed level crossing design. What do you guys think?

The original level crossing system was a drawbridge type affair, with leaves dropping to rail level from both sides. If the road level was sufficiently raised, and thse leaves animated as crossing gates, could that work?

There were four accomodation crossing where the track was pivoted similar to Andrew's design with interlocked signals either side, all under the control of a key held by the landowner / user. The public crossings (of which there were 17!) were indeed of the drawbridge type. I posted an illustration of one in the other thread (http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... &&start=15).
