Practical? Or not?

Hi Martin,
I must admit to thinking about making some (Truescale) tunnel track sections, but decided that they would only be of use to my own route. This is an awful lot of work (adding shapes to XTracks and the tsection .dat file) when the tunnel sections for a narrow gauge line are likely to be so specific.
I did however (and so did Mike) experiment with a few one-off shapes in the form of tunnels and mine workings which were then lined up to the track sections in the world file. It did work quite well and I will try to find some shots, if I kept them.

I need a fake tunnel wall section to fit a 90m rad 20 deg curve. My route is climbing a hillside and passing through a spur of higher ground on a severe bend and a tunnel would be better at this location that a deep cutting.
Andrew, if you fancy knocking up a simple brick or stone lined mock curved tunnel piece I would be very grateful.

when i made my 2x tunnels i cheeted a little. I used normal tunnel track but used a bigger entrance so it looked like the engine fit even throughit acually didnt.
im sure some vigalent people noticed but unless you look at your ceeling while going through or look straight down the tunnel you dont notice.

Got this on WHR with Aberglaslyn. I'm going to use normal tunnel sections with x2 scale tunnel mouths. From the footplate as your restricted to the cab and cant look out the effect should be minimal. Bit different on diesels where you have more of a forwards view but still not too bad I hope
Likewise the difference between the tunnel mouth and tunnel should be negligable.
Any one want to make a nice new x2 scale tunnel track section?
Chris

The route will have diesels, so a 1x scale true tunnel piece won't work. There is also no tunnel piece of the 90m rad curve...pitleyfalley wrote:your restricted to the cab and cant look out the effect should be minimal. Bit different on diesels where you have more of a forwards
I don't want to add 2x tunnel pieces to TSection, it's just too much work* and not necessary. A 2x fake tunnel arch will do the job I think.
(*) someone is bound to start asking for 2x tunnel sections on 97 other track pieces and whinge when you don't supply them. TSection is already too big IMHO.

i believe what you want to do is select the ground manipulation tool and position it over the pice of ground you want to dissapear then press either "v" or "x" i think its v. be warned it may dissapear and reapear faster than you can see with the naked eye so you may need to do it several times till it works (this is micrasoft were dealing with what do you expect?)
