Lord Percy is in the shops - a 'tweaked' Hudson.
When you upload, would you mind if I reskinned/renamed the loco for my own route? It is the perfect motive power!
I'm pretty relaxed about reskinning - I'd just like to see the model before you upload it, or a picture of it, to make sure it's up to my exacting standards. ;)
Anyhow how are you finding Roberts route, which incedentally needs some of my reskins (The JLR locos) for the Johnson Branch!

If you let me do some reskining, I wil post screenies on the topic about my route!
I haven't had a chance to play with the route yet. Life just seems to keep getting in the way.

I've got both of those models, I knew about the name on the Decauville being "Baldrick" but not the one on the Hunslet!
Seriously though, the use of the Blackadder character names could be your distinguishing feature, any loco with one of the names could be identified as yours!
Thats why my reskins have names that I know the reason for, examples
"Garthion" JLR number 1 same reason as my Username! It in a book I'm writting!
"Garale" Another name in said book!
"Garlethian" Name of said Book!
"Dale" (not yet uploaded and NOT for JLR) My own name!
"Thion" (Next upload, Will be JLR and hopefully unique to me!) Yet another name from the Book

Do you get the Idea yet or do I have to carry on until I've listed every character in the Book?
Incedentally, the name Garthion is of my own devising and consists of two Welsh words joined together Garth (meaning Lord) and Thion (Meaning Enclosure or House)
Anyway I will upload pictures of "Thion" when I'm ready so please anyone (not speciffically Robert or even William) do not ask for Screenshots until I'm ready (I know you're all Psychic so you will know!)

Hopefully my locos are distinguished enough already! :P

The 'character' names I only apply to locos to be used on the SWLR - which may rise again one day. They are fictional liveries - but I try to make them generic enough to be useful to others.

If there's an extant prototype, I don't add character names - viz HE1218 and the Decauvilles I did for Haute Somme.

The General is nearly ready to go - just need to add brake gear and put the driver back. I decided to keep the trailing wheels because it looks more 'balanced' somehow. Certainly the prototype 'Joffre' class tended to overturn at speed on curves - which was why Sgt Murphy got her trailing wheels... although I can't find a good picture on the net so mine are conjectural (and the texture is by Kevin Martin!)

So - expect three uploads from me this weekend. The General, some wagons and a diseasel...

The boiler was also lowered, tho' this happened in 1932 after it had overturned killing a member of staff on the Penrhyn Quarry Railway. The trailing truck was added when it was restored by Winson's in the 1990s. If you can get hold of a copy of James Boyd's book on the Penrhyn, you can see in plate LXXV (that's 75 to us mortals) where the original boiler sat as the cab front has been patched and the curve of its original position is quite distinct.

So, strictly speaking you can have three versions of Sgt Murphy: 0-6-0T with high boiler, ditto with low boiler or 0-6-2T with low boiler. But who cares .. just do what you like!

There is another Joffre/Haig in the UK. For details on the class and this example, see here: http://www.djr12ecg.demon.co.uk/joffre.html. I'm not sure, but as this website hasn't been updated for a while, the loco may be the same as the Lynton & Barnstaple's 'Axe', currently undergoing restoration at the Gartell Railway. Go to http://www.lynton-rail.co.uk/ and look on the 'News' page for 'Project Axe' for a few pics. I wonder if the L&B will rebuild it similar to 'Sgt M' so as to stop it tumbling down the slopes of Exmoor ..

Thanks Chris.

I know I promised this as well, but I'm still having difficulties with the eng. file

Anything above 5% regulator and it gets hard to see out of the cab... plus the lights are still out of whack.

Is it still vaguely a 'Haig'? :fadein:

Did it start out as ng_wagtex.ace? Which file are we talking about?

Hi Mike
Its from your latest upload.
I unzipped it....and as I always check in shapeviewer
showed "ng_wagtex.ace" as missing.
looked in the extracted file and there was a "ngwagtex.ace"
so just renamed it.
However I remember a similar problem with TM V3...WinXP ignores underscorces or such like...I think
(Could be the reason no ones complained about things missing from my cabview from the class312...either that or noones even looked at it... )
cheers

try using win rar instead of winzip if you think it's a system problem. see if that works.

its what i use and it's quite good. i usually find it packs the files a little better. (though this IS file dependent.)
