it's strange that there are no takers to do the IOM as it has a beautiful selection of stock.
i tell you what I had a very strange dream that sometime in the future that the IOM would be released and i had visions of some of the steam locos.....and yes i can name them
10 GH WOOD
4 LOCH
12 HUTCHINSON
11 MAITLAND
15 CALEDONIA
8 FENELLA
13 KISSACK
this was a very wierd dream and i also had a dream about an activity that was on it and it was the castletown flyer where i drove 11 MAITLAND from
Port Erin to Castletown at quite a pace.
Anyway what i was going to say is that the loco Halesworth from the Southwold Railway looks quite like an Isle of Man loco...just needs some enlargening and painting.
so is there anyone out there????????

Heya,
See a post a while ago, ive got plans to do it once i get WHR out the way. Its just a bit much at the moment. Got the DEM'd terrain all ready and have some of the MER track laid. Am thinking however of re-doing the DEM. Does anyone know if its possible to scale DEM data to 3ft gauge, like x2 scale DEM is for 2ft gauge? If so ill rework it with dynamic track.
10 GH WOOD
4 LOCH
12 HUTCHINSON
11 MAITLAND
15 CALEDONIA
8 FENELLA
13 KISSACK
That would be the current serviceable fleet then! Not sure if 13 is back yet, although I know she should be back in 2005.

Was over there this summer and I reckon No.10 was doing about 45mph. The new track is wonderfull! Shall probably next be on the island in february and then again in august.

can't wait then, hope the sounds are custom with those whistles which make me remember the first time i saw a Manx steam loco
that too was No 10 GH Wood and it was steaming away in Douglas station
and it was sooo misty that day and there was steam everywhere.
my favorite loco is No 12 Hutchinson when it was blue it looked beautiful
i have a fond memory of when an elm tree fell onto the track and made
No4 Loch make an emergancy stop. (1997)
i want to see Mannin steam again.

You liked 12 with the hideous blue livery and cab? I loathed it, prefer it now in the Indian Red livery with proper old style cab back. As for the whistles, there are 3 different types. No.4 and No.8 have small whistles, and I believe 11 and 12 have medium whistles, 10 having a larger one.... I forget offhand.
10 looked nice in the dark green, especially after the 1998/1999 repaint with yellow lining on the tank sides instead of red, and a repaint into a lighter holly green.
Mannin steaming again wont happen for a very long time, speaking to David Howard and Paul Ogden over the last few years and the trend is now towards getting the bigger 4 (10-13) steamable, with loch as a 5th engine. The idea being for a standardised fleet. Quite where Caledonia/ Fennella and others will fit into this I dont know.
No matter what people say against him, David Howard (director of transport) has turned the railway system around. For the first time since the mid 1960's there have been more than 5 servicable engines, (6 servicable with a 7th coming back!) and has secured the investment of £M's of pounds for the rail network. Wheras the railways future looked in doubt 4 years ago, with plans and cries to close it down (likewise the Manx Electric Tramway) the investment in infrastructure has secured its future for the next 40 years at least.
What would be nice now would be to see a change back towards the old style of big galas and events weeks. Now we've got a railway and tramway to be proud of, lets play with them!!!

My favourite Manx Peacok is No.5 Mona. When i've figured DEM for Trainz i would like to give some Manx line's in Trainz a go!

FRS,
Apparently at the moment there are no plans for Mona to return to steam, but then anyone who saw the state of her this year will understand why, would need a new firebox, tender, tanks, boiler, cab for a start! Not to mention all the plumbing and the countless other knackered bits, basically a new engines. Still it would be nice to see her return.
Have got MSTS DEM terrain, its just a matter of getting round to it, with all the other MSTS jobs.

Ah the IoMR, i love the place, best run I had was Sutherland on 7 coaches, banked up Port Soderick by Hutchinson, wonderful place, that was before the new track, when the railway disappeared into a grassy undergrowth steaming past manual crossing gates..........ah well that won't happen any more, but if it gives more speed I'm sure I'll enjoy it!

Sorry, wrote
'No.5 Mona'
and not 'No.5 Mo na'.
I know there are no plans all I think they should do is put her in the musem how she is. I saw Mo na last year in November when visting the Railcars at the 'Narrow Gauge Get to Gever'. The thing I like about Mo na is it's past and present.

For all those that dont know; IoMR No.'s 4 and 5 Loch and Mona were delivered with the names cast LO CH and MO NA, bizarely the injector overflow pipe ran down the tanks and disected the names of them!
All the IoMR engines have a very diverse history, for those wanting to find out more, Manx Peacock's book "The Manx Peacocks" is possibly the most difinitive guide to them, dealing with each engine in turn. Well worth the read.
