Re: The WHR in Porth:

Many plans have been proposed for the course of the new WHR through Porthmadog, with plans for a new 'joint' station somwhere or other along the line. I however think it would be better to dispense with the idea of a new station, and improve the existing facilities. The possibility of extending Harbour platform and running WHR trains into the other side of it, effectivley making it an island platform could work, and improving and doing similar to Pen-y-Mount station, making it two sided for the connection line and the current line into Gelerts Farm. With the improvement of Harbour and also the WHR terminus at the start of the WHR (Porthmadog) 2 better termini could be made. Pen-y-Mount could have a proper building and facilities, Harbour could have a longer platform, and maybe an extension of the museam (think Talylyllyn Rly at Wharf). And the current WHR Porth terminus, could have an elongated platform and a better building...

Just my ideas. *Waits for people to point out the obvious reasons why they wont work*

Yeah an island platform would be easy.

The is room, but the flowerbeds at harbour on seaboard side will have to go, and the signalling and point levers must be moved over too!

s you can see tere is a building in the way that wasn't there in old WHR days, do the Fr own it, if so will it be demolished or will the railway follow the red line?

The "problem" is the cob records store building which is not FR owned, however is has allready been agreeded with Cob records that the building will be demomolished.
