(With tounge in cheek)
They'll build the Port Bypass, and extend the Cob in-land, getting rid of the road from the cob, and keeping Y COB, the footpath!
He He He only joking!

It should not be that much of a deal after all the road on the Cob has already been widened a few years ago. The point being that such widening is perfectly reasonable. It is only at the Porthmadog end that any modification will be required.

they couldn't widen the raod by the station due to the britannia inn or hotel being there on the other side.

Aah the plans I have seen were not that clear, and I have not been over the Cob in about 15 years so I can't recall what it was like and I have not seen it since. Of course there is room on the other side of the Cob for widening the railway portion.

how wide would the new platform need to be?

I've read in SR that a platform could be built on the Llyn bach embankment if needed. Is this true?

Personally I think this is very very likely. Even if Harbour was modified to accomdate a platform (I can hear the "Pure" FR people ranting allready!), theres no chance of a Run-Around Loop. Llyn Bach station makes a lot of sense, for various reasons, I believe the only thing stopping it would be the Council and there car park. We shall see.

I think the Co-Op is the answer!
Also you need a leading thruogh conection to the FR but that is not for passengers to ride on unless it's not a Large Engine.
I think the plan of action should be...
Teso's runs Co-Op out of buisness.
FR & WHR buy Co-Op all shop feel thing's removed, sidings layed inside and out.
Inside turned into engine shed/musem/booking office.
Station built outside!
A lot of others belive in this!

Erm Tesco putting Co-Op out of bussiness... and so end the Co-Op days...

I have fond memories of Pork Pies from Port Co-Op
If we were to aquire the Co-Op site, that wouldn't include most of the car park, which is mostly the property of the Council and NOT Co-Op...
Also surely demomolish the building and replace it, I can't say I see Co-Op as being a partuclarly attractive station building! Ahhh but we can't do that, its our heritage

actually another decent idea would be to remove the current platform line and move the platform over, also since tram status has been awarded, the Cob wall could be knocked down for a while along, and then slew the tracks on the cob far over to the seaboard side, allowing for a decent very long platform and even a possible run around loop. Theres a lot more room than I thought.
Also I don't think it is feasible for co-op to go out of business. Even if it did and they bought the co-op, they should knock it down and use the materials for an even distribution of buildings along the entire WHR.
On the way home, I noticed the simplex out on the cob, towed by Molewyn
