I obtained a CD of the routes ( 1.1, update, consists and stock ) and everything went in easily, unlike the problems I had had from downloading the info.
I eagerly await the final (!) version.

I found it, Did'nt think to look for exclamation marks instead of the letter "R"!!!. Installed successfully, will do a full line run Tommorow, behind the blue brick! I can see that I'm going to have some fun with this route, cheers guys.

Glad you have the route working now, Dale.

Hope you enjoy it.

could someone tell me how you actually get the download link to FR Alpha v2.0?
i was a previous customer of v1.1 on cd, and have twice followed the instructions to email festrail for the download link, with no reply.
so what's up? do i have to buy another cd, or what? or is it just holiday time and they're inundated with requests?
i think FR is great, especially in real life and also on traimsim, and would really like to get this update.
so what has to happen? what am i not doing right?
thanks for any guidance, guys

iampaulh, your messages have not been received on the FR Website servers, which is why you haven't had a reply - please mail me at ian.butters@festrail.co.uk with which isp you are using so we can find where your messages are going - meanwhile, the link is being PM'd to you now.

Cheers

Hi Guy's,

I just watched Countryfile on BBC 1 and John Craven did quite a long item on the Railway.

I've been a fan for years and have watched the dowloads of stock grow but have been waiting for the route.

Just read about the V2.0 beta here and looked at the screenshots. Looks great.

What exactly is still to do before a finished version?

I've learned to be patient with this hobby  ,so this isn't a dig!

I'm not sure on the technicalities but I understood that signalling was crucial to activity writing? Is this a problem as at V2.0 beta?

Sorry if I missed something obvious :-? but thought that as there have been nearly 4000 hits on the route page of the FR web site I wouldn't be alone in appreciating an update.

Hi Geof,

As far as I understand, all the trackwork and signalling are now in place and fully working (could really do with Colin Tucker to confirm this).

The main task now is to finish off the Scenery.
From Porthmadog to Tanygrisau it is almost complete. However, the Blaenau area is a bit bare and needs a fair few building planted to finish things off.

Cheers

Excellent News!

I'll get downloading the stock.

I thought Blaenau was excellent in Bala Hub and although the railways have changed a lot the town is instantly recognisable to a first time visitor from the wfforts in that route.

Thanks for the swift response.

Hi Geoff,

As Kevin says, the track and signalling is all-but complete; though the signs on the railway keep changing so there are a few 'fixed' signals (ladybirds) that now need to be added.

The big gaps in the scenery are around Penrhyn and Blaenau. I too liked what the Bala Hub team had done for Blaenau very much. I've yet to start but I hope I'll get a similar effect (eventually).

I've done very little on the route since getting back from holiday (on the FR!) in August; my real work has left me feeling nothing like computing in teh evening as well. It's settled down a bit now so I'll try to get a bit more done over the next few months.

(And I'm very grateful to Kevin for keeping an eye on the forums and answering any questions that come up).

Best wishes,

Colin
