Just to confuse everyone even more....

Technically its still 2x.

Its just that its 2x Standard Gauge, rather than the normal 2x Narrow Gauge :)

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback Guys!

A few responses:
They are static models I believe.
and,
The standard gauge in the Ffes is thus x4 scale.... its scaled up standard gauge stock and track, running alongside scaled up narrow gauge!
The Standard Gauge Trains are moving! As suggested I've re-scaled (x2!) a standard gauge Class 158. It is running on normal narrow-gauge track - as MSTS doesn't require the wheels to meet the track! - but this has been covered over with re-scaled (x2) dumb tracks to give the impression of a standard guage line. Everything on the standard gauge is re-scaled to x2, I don't have anything at x4! The jist of it is I can set up a normal consist of (re-scaled) 158's on the buried normal track in the activity editor and have moving trains as scenery...
I assume that the Distant Mountains enhancements are now all installed...

(Should have kept quiet about that until I had the Talyllyn 2 out there )
Steve knows how grateful I am for his tip-off and first draft of Distant Mountains, the look of these gave me the motivation to get on with it! Having now contour-traced all the way North to Snowdon and South through the Rhinogs I simply couldn't wait to share it!

Best wishes,

:o

Wow! I got bored contour-tracing a couple miles either side of Highley in the Severn Valley for another, non-MSTS, project!

Is this also true for the Cambrian Coast line at Minffordd?

You'll just need to scale up a Ginsters 158 (not the relatively nice black one) which seems to be on the line each time I'm up there :)

Cheers

I apologise, its just that in the first version there was a train there in the same position, so I assumed it was the same.

No need to apologise! You are quite correct about the previous static model.

In this version I've laid 'hidden' track at both the Cambrian (Minffordd) and the Blaenau Station bit of the Conway Valley. I've used different 158 skins for each - for a bit of variety, and WITH the original modeller's permission - but anyone could rescale a favourite standard gauge loco and use it for moving scenery. I do think the simultaneous departures at Bl Ff are nice even though this bit of the scenery is still mostly empty.

Best wishes,

It's here!

Ok, well the good news is that FRalpha2.0 is now available. If you visit the FR website (http://www.festrail.co.uk/) you'll find a link to some blurb telling you how to get the route.

The gist of it is this:

If you are a previously register downloader of the route (and have a password to prove it) then you can email the FR for a link to download a 50MB patch in order to upgrade from alpha1.1 to alpha2.0.

If you did not register, or need the complete 100MB files then you'll need to get a copy of the CD from the railway for £3 UK, £4 r.o.w - (details on the FR website). The charge is to cover materials and post/packing. Anything left over gets donated to the railway as this is meant to be freeware.

This might seem a bit odd but we had a lot of problems with bandwidth last time around and need to place some practical limits.

Best wishes,

And its on its way here:)
14mins 50 secs left...

Took me a while to find my password mind... I had to hunt through my old hard drive to find my original FR download... find its date (16th of April 2003) then look at my emails from that date.

Big thanks to Ian Butters for replying so quickly and of course big thanks for Colin and Kevin for making this avaliable to us. I can't wait!

13mins 4secs left...

I've lost my password! I'll have to spend some money to get the route, oh well just have to wait a bit longer for some where longer to run the JLR locos.

umm...hi...I've got a problem.

You see I originally downloaded the V1.1 of the Ffest Route onto my computer (which has since been replaced with this new one) and I don't think I still have the password.

What would I have to do to find it? (I don't think it's in my emails cos they all got deleted when I got my new computer, and I forgot where the download of the route was.)

I'd grab a copy of the CD anyway, then you have a backup for the future :).

I don't have a credit card of my own :-? :(

Anyways...I got the file (after some much needed help ;) )...It seems that I'm missing some .ace files (tree8.ace) or something. I tried using Autumn and Winter and it wouldn't work (I got the same error messages for both though). :-?

I followed the instructions in the Readme to the letter...can someone help me? :(

Evan,

we really need a bit more info. What files are you missing exactly (need the full path names).

In the meantime, you could copy the texture files from another route (tree8.ace is certainly in europe1) into the necessary Ffestiniog texture folders. This should get you running.
