Quick question!
JLR Locomotives, what colour would you like them to be? I'm thinking that the Ideal engines would be the Maning Wardle "Busy Bee" class, or the DeWinton Vertical Boilered loco. If a colour could be standardised, I could have a play (after getting permissions) and produce some nice looking locos.
The colours that I am currently thinking of are Maroon (close to Midland crimson lake) or green (dark like Brunswick but not quite). All locos would be lined out with slight weathering (and clean patches by the numbers and names, talking of which, any suggestions (Names that is, numbers would go up in sequence).
Incedentaly, a nice looking engine for the B&SR would be corris Number 1, nice open(ish) cab, plenty of power and it fits in the loading gauge of the Northern (Quarry to David's Dock) section.
Ciaow For Now
P.S.
All that stuff in brackets, clap of thunder, music by Ron Grainer..., in my previous post was a reference to "The Prisoner" by Patrick McGoohan. First episode was titled Arrival, so I decided to have some fun, Sorry if it confused you.

The sceme i was thinking of was something along the lines of improved entine green. (a mustard sort of colour) with brown stripes and BIG ARSE letters on the side saying "JLR" also in brown. for a lagh you could also try adding the shadow of another company logo underneath.
but i also like the green idea.
but as far as locos go... you must be reading my mind!
are you phycic or something?

if you re sking the busy bee type engine could you fiddle with the mask thing to change the shape of the cover on the cab to make it look like its a piece of tarpalin or big sheet of plastic thrown over to replace the orrigional frilly top.
now names... oh thats a toughey...
erm lets se now.... how about.
"anthony"
"slow mo" or "slow moe"
"slow joe" or "joe"
"Vert" or "Bert"
and
"-->your name hear<--"

Will ask for permissions ASAP, have only just downloaded busy bee, but have been playing with the DeWinton, but am having trouble with it's running at the mo, runs fine until I slow it down, then it just stops and will not restart. Already thought of a "Name" for Loco 6 'NUMBER 6' (the Prisoner again I'm afraid!)
Anyhow, I will try to re-create the Stroudley Improved Engine Green, your'e right, it does look nice and should suit quite a few of the two footers.
Additional, Locos would be weathered depending on their use, No 1 would be in pristeen condition as the flagship of the Fleet (Management like it too much to let it get dirty) whereas No 6 would be in a really filthy state with only the number and name being legible. Numbr 6 would probably be the last loco for the line, unless someone creates a small diesel loco, like the TSNG Baguely loco from Weasel Works, in 2X scale.

cool. there is a cute little tall deisel that is in 2x that might me nice on the JLR.
i find that the vert boiler engine can somtimes run out of steam real quick if you leave the break valve open too long while your running. mabe thats it. oh and busy bee has an anoying tendancy to wheel slip at about infinate speed, draining steam pressure from the boiler like a couple of steam pipes just suddenly burst loose and started spewing steam out like the clappers.
mabe you could fix the later if you know anything about .eng files.... i dont.
man im so glad ur doing this stuff... otherwise god knows how long it would be b4 wed have got some JLR stock.

No probs, gives me something to De-Stress after work, really do need it after servivng members of the public all afternoon, unfortunately, I only have a few hours each day to do any work on locos but I'll work my way through them creating the "new" livery, (I'll produce three and send you some screenies so you can decide on the best looking). With the Busy bee, I am thinking of putting the Whole Line name on the cab Valance (Pretty bit around top of cab, though at present I don't know how this will look, may just have the JLR name on the works plate.
anyway off to play at livery creation for about an hour or so!

I have just sent E-Mails to the loco authors asking for permission to carry out the re-skins and subsequent uploads, will post on here whether or not I get the required permissions. We could do with designated/ appointed CMEs for the two lines as well as stock managers. CME job would be to select suitabel Engines (Steam or diesel) and the stock managers would be in charge of the wagons and coaches. I would gladly become CME of the JLR (Afterall I am going to create at least 6 re-skins for the line and create activities for them to run in) and would sugget that FrSimplex be Stock manager, if he would accept the job?
For the B&SR, who has created more stock? how about the route author as GM of both lines therefore overseeing all new loco 'purchaces'
As said above I have ideas on three liveries, a variation on Stroudley's Improved Engine green, a variation on Brunswick Green and a Variation on Midland Crimson Lake, All liveries would be lined out fully but on some locos this would be hard to see due to heavy weathering.

ok... not that i really know what any of the abreviations stand for though.
does sounds like FRsimplex will have an easy time. the B&SR is prity much fully stocked. if you download my B&SR stock file youll find prity much everything the B&SR owns in the way of stock. (a file of which i am particuarly proud). dispite the perplexing lack of downloads. i mean i dont think ive seen any better wood effect on trucks in msts myself. though im sure some smart arse has found a way.

6 engines sounds quite allot to me. i would have thought the line would have 3-5. specially as there are only 2 sidings just outside Michael town for the engines. though i wont stop you if you want to make 6. just understand that trafic allong the JLR isnt particuarly dense. pasengers only go as far down the line as West gladyceton. unless there employees. and the factory doesnt produce that many box's of finnished goods per day.
what they actually make is anyones guess. all i know is it goes round the line in box's.
looking forward to seeing the screnies

The idea of having six locos is it is a glimpse through time, the line originally had four locos three Busy Bees (Hopefully) and one DeWinton. Number 2 was condemmed with boiler failure five years after purchase and was consequently used for spare parts for number 1, number 3 was sold abroard because of lack of funds (though will be modelled) number 4+1 being the only survivors. numbers 5+6 were aquired to replace 2+3 but were eventually sent to the B&SR quarry for shunting with the occasional visit to the JLR when traffic demanded (Bank hols and the Like) during these visits the trains would be double headed. Each model will be releaced in two conditions, as new (I.E clean with delivery livery) and end of working life, (I.E. weathered (Exept No1) and in plain livery.)
The initials stand for:
CME, heif Mechanical Engineer, person in charge of locos and stock
GM, General manager, in charge of the whole line
I have already started working on number 1 "GARTHION" it WILL be in a very close approximation of LBSC Umber (Improved Engine Green) even the Valance has been given this livery, will send you some piccies when I start testing, anyway, more gold leaf to add to the valance one pixel at a time.
