Yes, including a 'sensible' chunk of the North Staffs which would both link to the L&M and allow some activities in it's own right would definitely help.

I have thought about how you might be able to animate the converter wagons in MSTS but I'm stumped, certainly an animation of sorts is practical to show men hauling SG wagons onto/off the NG flats but I don't know how you'd combine this into a real loco-haulable wagon. I guess you lot thought long and hard about this over a year ago and found no way to do it? Other than that, yes, sequential activities would be the answer.

I think the NS' characater is best shown pre-grouping so we'd be looking at maybe a WW1 setting (a bit more traffic possibly). I'm not a fan of a modern preserved version with diesel haulage though... :(

Lets talk at Ashbourne then. Are you stopping overnight - I feel this sort of planning session is best done over some liquid refreshment... :)

Martin,

As most people know, Im at Uni over in Stoke on Trent, a stones throw from the L and M. Keep meaning to go over and have a look at it all to be honest. Although I work I should have a fair bit of free time from December onwards, and certainly in the new year, with regards to any on site info you might need. I can always pop over one day armed with a list and a digital camera if you wish? I know not much remains of the line, however the cycle path along its course could easily be filmed one day for you to work from, copied to VCR/ DVD and popped in the post.

Give me a shout if I can be of any use.

With regards to a semi fictional route, id certainly be in favour of something like that. A bti of operational interest could be added in, and it does also give the modeller a bit of artistic license... (look at Southwold for an example of a route which captures the feel of the original but isnt all that accurate.) An L and M portraying a 'what if' scenario could be very interesting indeed.

The Waterhouses end of the route should feature the stiff final climb up to the station from the level crossing over the main road, a feature of the route Scenically Thor's Cave is important as it was always a well publicised feature of the route.l

Hi Martin!

Yep, still hanging around - although not as much as I used to (don't I still owe you a BL2???? )

If there was any chance of the L&MLR being resurrected in some way, that would be fantastic! I'm sure there are plenty of NG fans who feel the same way. Personally, I'd prefer an "unadulterated" version, but I'd go along with almost anything if it meant this route was a possibility again :D

Cheers

Saddletank & Bravedan, I am with you 100% on this. It is a railway that definately needs a place in MSTS. As Dave has stated, there are ample opportunities for activities with the line and if the main line could be used in conjunction with the L&M, it would be even better.

Come on folks, this line has been lying idle for far too long, let's see its rebirth if only in MSTS.

So much support... obviously its Brave Dan and Saddletanks project, but is there scope for this becoming more of a community effort?

Many hands make light work.. imagine we must have 10 or so NG scenery modellers if not more who regulaly use the NG forum... 3 or 4 of us work with Route Editor... Another 5 or 6 on stock work... Imagine if everyone chipped in in some way or another we could have the route created in no time.

Obviously Saddletank and Bravedan have the say on this one, its only a suggestion... but would people be willing to support the project in some way or another?

If this is the one that was/is normally trundling round a Hypermarket track at Trago Mills , it's not very accurate proportionally as a template, is it?? Quite a few differences, some I listed here a while back. Or is this a different loco?? Does it have proportionally correct and correctly worded nameplates???

With regard pics, I surveyed the line for Mike Wilson, and the many (very many!!) digital pics I took are still extant and available.

Chris

Message rec'd.......................... Martin and I will discuss.............

The rolling stock is built and more or less skinned, has been for getting near 18 months, Chris.......

The effort would be needed in Route Scenery, Buildings, correctly clothed people, Road Vehicles, etc, work which unfortunately stalled out of my hands.

Maybe someone could do some work on increasing the variety of Std Gauge "ride -ons", and the opens carried station type seats and sometimes covers at peak times, which would need to be done with and without passengers as freightanims.

However, please don't start doing ANYTHING till after Martin and I get together 19th/20th.......and we are both very busy now on G2K............we'll be back in touch................ :)

Nope its the half size 15 inch gauge replica at the Bure Valley Railway.

I'm no expert but I though it was a pretty good model, very impressive anyway- about the largest loco I've seen on 15 inch gauge.

Nameplates etc are not accurate, but for texture samples such as smokebox door/tank sides etc it may do the tric

Sorry, I cannot contribute any practical help with building th L&M as I only have the knowledge to write activities and add objects to a route, like I have done and am still doing with the Blackpool Tramway, to give an Illuminated version, but I am behind everone 100% on this project.
All I can offer is photographs and info from all the books, which you already have at your disposal anyway.
Good luck with it, I'm sure it will succeed this time.
