How about a railway that is funded by the John Lewis Partnership and takes food from the packing plant to the back of a Waitrose Supermarket.
It could also carry shoppers from a town to the Waitrose.

WB = Waitrose Back Entrance (Goods Only)
WF = Waitrose Front Entrance (Passenger Only)
P = Packing Plant
T = Town
S = Sheds
You'd need some reskinned Waitrose wagons though

It's not just Waitrose, it's right across the Supermarket Range! From your average Asda to that Special Waitrose. Believe it or not I used to shop at Asda most of the time
And only pop into Waitrose once every fortnight.
Anyway I'll shut up now
John
P.S. Foxcotemanor I might just get round to reskinning something into Waitrose livery

you really like these great big monolithic monstrositys we call supermarkets dont you. for one they force farmers to sell there products at a loss, the only reason we still got farms of our own farms is because of government subsadys. or at least the last time i checked that was the case. they have also spelt the doom of many a corner shop, often replacing the product they have overun with a cheep mass produced replacement that is not as good. i dont care what asda say there bred is no where near as good as the cheepest bakers bread.
personaly im against companys that have that much weight to throw around.
supermarkets are very much a thing from today, where as the steem engine (narrow or not) are very much a thing of the past (wether we like it or not) from when we only had the frinedly corner shop. i really cant imagine tescos or whoever building a narrow guage steem engine line, when surely it would be simpler, easier and ceeper just to use a lorry. afterall supermarkets are modern things.

'Friendly Corner Shops', in my opinion are trying to sell groceries and meals etc. and failing miserably. If you want better and don't have the butcher/baker/green grocer/grocer shops nearby then that's what a supermarket is for. I don't like any of them quality-wise except Waitrose and Marks & Spencer.

but why would they? what would be the advantages to a shop that gets all its goods shipped out form the warehouses in lorries? they would have to unload the lorry onto the train and then unload the train into the shop. thats quite a few extra people to employ there. not to mention allot of ground to be bought.
