yeah i managed to make it work. this is what i had to do

-------------------------
1) once installed i had to move all the files into the folder indicated in the cab view patch. (the installer placed them directly into the trainset folder)

2) i installed the cabview. which even once redirected as instructed it placed the files into the wrong place. so i then had to go through all the folders it had placed in the engine folder untill i reached the cab view and copy past it into the right place. then deleat the offending extra folders

3) patch the cab as directed

4) i had to delve into the .eng file to find the corect filename for the .cvf file and change the name of that to B&SR_Diesel.cvf
-------------------------

i sugest you test the files you uploaded and follow your own instructions to the letter and see what happens. if i am correct (as i think i am) that there are teathing problems with your file then i sugest you fix them ASAP!

though i do like the engine. it suits the line to a tee.

I will use route riter, works every time to decompress and sfm to scale. An updated eng file may be needed though.

by the way i read your version of the engines history and i like the scrap yard angle. hope you dont mind but i expanded on it and made it into a SHORT story. hears what i done

"
for a long time John has been renound umongst the workers at the B&SR and B&SQ for being somwhat "moody." there has often been a time when for no aparant reason he just wont start. (get up to pressure).

the railway realised that with the loss of johns counterpart (an identical twin engine named Baxter who ended its days in a quite spectacular acident,) there was a desparate need for another engine. fortunately during a trip to the dump to sell the scraped peices from the old enginey they happened uppon the rusting hulk of a diesil locamotive. they quickly bought up the engine and began work fixing it. much to the dislike of the owner of the line, who ended up with a car that had only half its bits. after much work on the engine it finaly ran. the only problem was it had no name. after a long and rather heated discusion, the subject was finaly brought to a close when one of the workers overheard the row and mentioned that he had rescued the old nameplates from Johns old scraped partner (Baxter). the plates were emideately screwed on (though one needed straingtening out with a hammer). from that moment on the diesil was always known as baxter. though other afectionate names were thought up over the years.

now the engine lives out its life shunting at various parts of the line and on ocation (when necisary) fills in for John when hes "in one of his moods". though he just cant make the same pase as john. Baxter (as is now) has been a faithful survant of the line for many a year now and "with a bit of luck and car parts" promises to remain as sutch."

Wow... a totally novel approach to the english language.

2/10 - could do better.
