Bit quiet round here...

Post by trainmad »

It's been a bit quiet round here, so thought i'd ask some questions.

Whats your favorite narrow gauge railway?

Mines got to be the Tal-Y-Llyn Railway

Whats your favorite NG locomotive?

Got to be Edward Thomas

Whats your favorite narrow gauge size?

2ft 3, rare, and different

What do think narrow gauge railways should have been built for?

Carrying slate from quarrys, nothing better than seeing locomotives hard at work.

Whats your favorite narrow gauge railway?
Easy - the Talyllyn by far, far away

Whats your favourite NG Locomotive?
Talyllyn No. 7 Tom Rolt

Whats your favourite narrow gauge size?
2ft 3in as the Talyllyn is, closely followed by 7 1/4in

What do think narrow gauge railways should have been built for?
Old - To carry slate or other goods where SG would be too big/costly
New - To please tourists and interest NG fanatics

Hope this helps,
John

Whats your favorite narrow gauge railway?
The Talyllyn, but then im totally bias. The Isle of Man Steam, Manx Electric and Southwold come a close second.

Whats your favourite NG Locomotive?
IoMR No.10 GHWood, TR No.2 Dolgoch, and Lady Madcap a dinorwic hunslet

Whats your favourite narrow gauge size?
3 foot and 2 foot 3

What do think narrow gauge railways should have been built for?

For whatever purpose, they were mainly built because an SG line would have been more costly, or more difficult to force through the terrain, (ie the ffes and the tr).

Hope this helps,

What do think narrow gauge railways should have been built for?

anytime where a standard guage line would have been too expensive, or where the tarain was ill adapted to carry the weight of larger locos or just too windy. or even when it was more eficient to use narrow.
