SWLR Beta

Post by sp762 »

Hello everyone.

the South Weald Light Railway beta segments are going up to the server as we speak. There are 7 in all, and I apologise in advance for the fairly hefty nature of the chunks.

This a beta route.

It is not entirely complete - mainly in the areas of signalling and scenery.

Not all permissions have yet been received - however:
a. Those involved have historically said yes
b. I will undertake to remove files from final release, if there are issues.
c. no articles from proprietary routes have been used.

You will need to download Xtracks v3.6 or greater and UKFS to use this route. The former because the narrow gauge section of the route uses the tsNG track sections, and the latter because the UKFS track looks so good.

I started this route many, many months ago as a small industrial route, and like Topsy, it grew. When tsNG track was introduced, I added a small scenic section to the route, and have spent much of the last six months doing ng stuff - hence this post...

Please let me know about problems or issues, and I'll fix them gradually by patch release. The documentation will be uploaded tomorrow (if I finish it by then) but thanks in advance to:

Having downloaded and installed this route...(Note spanning files again)..
I just wondered what default loco is needed?
Is the UKFS section seperate..and full gauge?...or do they join up somewhere.
Cant seem to find any readme
PS I think the route looks very good and detailed :D

Been trying it out tonight.

At last we have a 2ft gauge route to run all the NG stock.

and a bonus light railway route for all the small standard gauge.

Just waiting for the consists and stocklist.
I look forward to seeing some good shunting activities.

Well done.

Hi,

did I mention that this is a beta route? A good default loco for the ng route is Kev Martin's Baldwin 4-6-0T, or any of my truescale stuff, especially the Dick Kerr or WD Hunslet. The route was designed to use my truescale rolling stock, so you have the option of downloading it now, or waiting for a consist pack to be uploaded.

The UKFS section is separate, and consists of

a. a third rail section of Southern Mainline - intended to bused for AI scenery trains. The NG line passes under this, and over it by means of bridges.

b. The extensive maze of yards and running lines used by the Resolution Dock Company. The SWLR interfaces with this by means of two exchange sidings at the RDC's West Yard.

I'll upload the documentation later today - including some maps that might be useful.

I'll upload some consist files later on - but activity writing ain't my bag...

I have made a map diagram of the SWLR showing all lines and sidings.

The points are drawn correct hand with Y points shown as right hand.
This should help you plan your shunts.
I will upload this but if you can't wait click on the thumbnail and use right click/save picture as to download it.

Very big image.

Nice one Ian - the yards at the three ends of the main line are intended to be used as traffic spawners for AI trains.

I got diverted last night, but the detailed maps and consist files are now posted  .

Mike.
Thank you for such a superb line. I’m not one for great long main lines, sweeping on for miles and miles, as I have been fortunate enough to have done the real thing, but I do enjoy using the MSTS to potter, build my own consists, activities, etc., and your route allows just that.
Well done, fantastic.
And in Truescale to.

what the...
Say...is this Southwold or South Weald??
Or are they the same route...cos the names seem really similar to each other

I might download that route when I have the chance to. Seems nice...as long as I don't need any "Freelance NG Coaches" or "Rugga" stock :-? Cos I never got ALL of the files for them, I'm missing aces and s/sd files :o

South Weald's a fictional railway in the South of England, Southwold's a non-fictional railway in South-East Anglia ;)

ah ha! :o ...ok then...I'll wait for Southwold then 8)

If I want some good realistic screenies, I might as well go with the real route  ...I'll download the files for this route though in the mean time and check it out in my spare time :)
