Lynton & Barnstaple Wagon Number 9

Post by BruceB »

Well I've been talking about this for a while now...

So here it is... L&B Open Wagon Number 9.

Big Thanks To Chris Lindop, for making the locos that inspired me to build this...providing the drawings and even kindly providing some couplings...

Its by no means finished... indeed I have a 'snag' list to sort out, and even then I've the SR versions to do before I release.

Looking good! Fast turn around as well :D

From what I can tell from old pictures, all the stock used the same couplings as the locos and so they are that long!!

Cheers, Chris

The couplings should be 2ft long from base plate to buffing plate. Those on the model look fairly close, but it is easy to be confused by their size in the picture since the wagon is so small and when one looks at NG wagons the couplings seem large because one is used to looking at standard gauge stock where the coupling is proportionally smaller.

Mike - yes. 8)

Bruce - no, not at all. I have had plans for an L&B route for ages but never got round to it, if others do it, it'll just save me the work

No, no, no - Martin sent me some plans ages ago 'for inspiration', but made me promise not do do any of the actual wagons. You fill your boots!

Cheers Mike, You worried me for a Bit...

Wagon No.9 Is pretty Much finished now and has gone off for beta testing. Basically changes from the prevous shots are; retexuring couplings to put the spring in, Adding the Brake handel on one side only, moving the 'L&BR' lettering to match photos of these wagons in there 'rebuilt' form (as modeled), and finally produced a loaded version full of coal :)

N.B.: I've loaded them with coal as this seams to be their main use however if you any other sugestions for loads please state them here!

Next Up Job is to Reskin them into SR brown... But First I'll think I'll watch a video for a bit of inspiration

Erm Well I supose in theory I could.... I think for now I'll leave it as just Number 9, adding 'Transfers' as I like to call them can cause trouble.

Meanwhile, This afternoon The wagon made a trip through the paintshop and SR Wagon Number 28304 (Originally L&B Wagon Number 1) has appered.

If you are using TYSM - could you save the couplers as a part file and mail them to me - 'group standard couplings' make a difference, I reckon.
