A missing Hunslet!?

Post by sillyevan27 »

OH DEAR! Even after a boom in Hunslet production for msts and countless uploads to UKTS we seem to have missed one! :o :shocked!:
(I found this on one of my many random searches of the internet!)
Image
The caption next to it was:
"Preserved narrow gauge loco 994 George Sholto (coal fired Hunslett built 1904 ex Dinorwic Quarries) at Bresingham on 9 June 1994."

Oh dear...oh worry...oh dread......oh great!

This will make another nice model.

I've travelled behind this one at Bressingham, around the Nursery line. As it goes though the nursery (for plants :) ), the funnel had a strange 'hair net' style spark arrester, although it seems to have a different kind in the photo.

If I remember correctly (it was a long time ago), George Sholto is quite large in comparison to the other quarry hunslets like Alice etc.

Cheers

The spark catcher seems to be like the still you'd find on a tram (like Toby) :-?
But, if you were right about the plant nursery, then that was placed on the funnel to prevent the plants from catching fire :P 8)

Hmm....I wonder who will make this first and upload it? Bruce? Tim Elsby?

George Sholto is a Penrhyn Large Quarry Class it is the largest type of quarry hunslet for use in the qurries. They were banned from parts of Penrhyn Quarry because of thier weight.

There is still some Alice class hunslets not represented they are George B, Rough Pup, Holy War and Red Damsel although we do have the last one in its later form of Elidir.

Im currently working on Dolbadarn in 3 differnt conditions and Lady Joan in its orrignall condition as No 1.

Holy War - Lying Around One My PC - Will Upload
Rough Pup - I think David started this one...

If anyone's got a decent picture of the nameplate, i'm willing to do any Quarry Hunslet. I'm really after a Rough Pup and a Gerge Sholto/Bill Harvey plate, but if you have one and want to see the loco in MSTS, donate today :).
