Hi. I wont be going to the Talyllyn this weekend but I was there about a month ago on a gorgeous sunny day. Loco's No.7 Tom Rolt and No.6 Douglas (currently running as Duncan from the Skarloey Railway) were running. Had a fantastic day but unfortunately many walks around Nant Gwernol were closed (due to tree felling) as were the paths around Dolgoch Falls (apparently they are unsafe and are being repaired).
The trains were also having trouble keeping to their timetable - the engines were fine but the local sheep decided that it was more fun to walk on the track than stay in their field which meant that our train took half an hour longer than normal to travel from Wharf to Nant Gwernol. Still, we had a great time and look forward to another visit later in the year.

I went at the end of last summer, and went to the Falls at Dolgoch.

The paths weren't the most stable, especially as there had been quite a bit of rain before we went. I can see why they need repairing!

Cheers

To be delyed by 30 mins on the TR for sheep is quite an achievment!!!

I remeber one day being given a caution notice at Wharf which read:
Beware of cows on the line Between Aber and Nant, they got onto the line overnight, Dave Jone has chased them up Altwyllt Incline.
Well it made for an interesting trip....

We also have problems with Dolgoch , as we dont own the falls we arent responsible for them. However have to suffer when they are closed. I was last up there at new year, and they were pretty bad then...

Hmmm.

My timetable will be:

Saturday from 12:00 = ? Perhaps Corris
Sunday = BR Train
Monday = Talyllyn
Tuesday = VoR
Wednesday = Ffestiniog
Thursday = ?
Friday = Talyllyn

The TR is best on weekdays in the summer hols with 4 locos in steam and 3 set of coaches. Sadly no 4 won't be back by then, I doubt :cry:

I hoping that I'll see: 1, 2, 3 and 7 because 6 is a bl**dy Thomas liverey or if they can repaint from me into TR green then I'll be happy to see her in steam but NOT AS DUNCAN Douglas please :roll:

Hi Folks,

I may be new to Train Sim, but I've been working on the TR (12in to 1Ft) since 1992.

I was down there for the last week in May and was guarding trains on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. My 15 year old son works as a Cleaner - he was riding as third man on one run every day - mainly on No7.

On Sat 30 May, No 3 (looking immaculate - fresh from the paint shop - in Corris livery), the Corris Coach (17), Van 6 and a few other wagons went to Corris on loan for a month.
No 4 is still in pieces and the plan, at present, is to bring him back in green.

Skarloey locos, while not popular with enthusiasts, are immensely popular with kids - so we need to run them to keep fare revenue at manageable levels. 1 & 2 are sacrosanct and 7 (Ivo Hugh) is not well enough known.

That leaves 3, 4 & 6 to wear red. Sir Handel is not popular with the kids - beacause he's a bit of a sneaky - and used to get a considerable amount of abuse! Consequently, the chances are that, at some stage Peter Sam will return - because he's so popular, but for the moment it's Duncan's turn!

Anybody any idea when we will see No 4 steaming again doesnt matter what colour. Is No 3s new colour alot different to the old one?

4 keeps being put to the side, as the day to day running of the railway is keeping everyone busy. As a result she hasnt even got her boiler back in, so I wouldnt excpect her back for another year or two yet!

As for 3, the livery is a lot darker, but not as dark as No.4's 1994 Corris Maroon which was very dark...
