15 inch gauge in MSTS.

Post by Rfairlie »

I know that there has been some failed attemps at making 15in gauge stock to run on standard MSTS track but has anyone tried making them run on X-Tracks Narrow Gauge track or would this also make the locos enormous.

After some quick calculations i've worked out that for 15in locos to run on x-tracks 3ft track they would have to be 2.3X scale so they would look a little bit bigger than the 2xscale NG stuff which isn't too bad. Ill have to build a loco though to test it might try Sir Arthur Heywoods Effie.

That would be cool.... Look forward to the results...

15 inch would be nice... on normal track its about 8 times bigger than normal stock! However x-tracks should be ideal for it....

Just a thought. Make it to 2x scale (like your narrow gauge stock) but use x-tracks UKNG 2ft 4" track. This would give an equivalent track guage of 14" and you could use the same buildings etc from the 2x range.

cheers

So does that mean 'miniature rly' routes (like the Ravenglass and Eskdale Rly  ) can be made in MSTS??

Yes it means they could. But they would also be a reasonable size.. ie wouldnt be tiny, and you would have the x2 scale chunky effect..
