Sittingbourne and Kemsley or Leighton Buzzard?

And what about the 'new' narrow gauge lines like at Launceton, the Brecon Mountain railway, Amberley Chalk Pits ....

Technically speaking the Isle of Man Railway is not a persevered line. It’s still an original railway company, nationalised by the Manx Government back in the 1970s – but who cares, at least its still running.

Got to admit I do have a soft spot for the Talyllyn and the Ffestiniog Railway’s – probably due to the touch of Welsh blood in me and my slightly Welsh sounding name. Of course, I have got the picture of me standing in front of the FR’s locomotive, ‘David Lloyd-George’ with my back covering the ‘George’ bit – rather sad I know, but it had to be done.

Don't forget the Isle of Man has more narrow gauge than you can wave a stick at. Steam - Diesel - Electric and even Horse power - Visitors most welcome...........

Technically the same applies to the Ffestiniog as they coulndt afford the act of parliment to close the line and thus when it reopened the old company was bought out and the railway could continue operation. However the line was closed for some while so despite the FR's claims it probably is a 'preserved' line

I voted for the Talyllyn obviously but I do like the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch quite a bit.
I don't like the FR and the WHR, to modern for my liking and too much of a tourist attrachtion not an actual railway and isn't as friendly and welcoming as the TR.

If much of the Lynton & Barnstaple gets reopened, I'd vote for that!

IN fact on consideration, my favorite current NG line, is probably the Corris, considering the scale of work they have undertaken, and the very nature of what they are doing, I think that they are onto a real winner.

The corris was a very attarctive line from what I have seen, and I think there is real poential in it. Besides (not belittling the WHR (C)) they have built from scratch with little funding and very limited resources. In contrast the WHR (C) does have The Ffes as something of a safety net.

No... The Talyllyn is complicated, the line is run by the presrvation society. The Talyllyn Railway Co. exists only on paper. And the shares are held by Talyllyn Holdings Ltd.
