Very nice little site. Nice and simple.

Though I would recommend that the links to this message board and its mother site are "open in new window" type things, since they are not part of your site. Perhaps too the "click to download" buttons should make quite sure the viewer knows it's offsite, e.g. "download from http://www.UKTrainSim.com" and you should also give the file ID because to download you first have to log in which takes you back to the http://www.uktrainsim.com home page, unless you're logged in first.

The only other thing that was missing would be a brief history of the particular locomotives, though I recognise that that is perhaps time consuming. If that can't be done then reference to (e.g.) "<b>Jones, T</b><I>Quarry Hunslets</I> Non-existant Publications (1973) ISBN no 0800221155.

Please don't be offended by any of the above; its just constructive criticism.

Most Certainlly not offenened!

Thanks for the feedback - its what I need!

The open in new window is good idea, I'll do it to all UKTS links.

Also, I do mention that you must be logged in to download.

Thanks

This doesn't work for me unfortunately. I just get a incorrect URL page.

I'm looking forward to this route, my parents really like Southwold so hae been there a lot, and have worked to Walberswick many times.

Cheers

Hi Bruce

Just had a peak at your website and if I may be so bold (I am a full time web editor for my sins) and suggest a few simple improvements to make it even better.

You need a contacts page or at least an e-mail link.

Your counter on the home page would look better a little smaller.

I don’t know which image software you use, but most have web optimisers on them these days to reduce the pixel size of the image down a bit, thus increasing download speed.

You have an Error sign coming up on the bottom of each page – if you click on view in IE and then source – it comes up with this at the bottom of the page

“<!-- text below generated by server. PLEASE REMOVE --></object></layer></div></span></style></noscript></table></script></applet>
<script language="JavaScript">var PUpage="76001072"; var PUprop="geocities"; </script><script language="JavaScript" src="http://www.geocities.com/js_source/pu5g ... pt><script language="JavaScript" src="http://www.geocities.com/js_source/ygIE ... pt><script language="JavaScript">var yviContents='http://us.toto.geo.yahoo.com/toto?s=760 ... pt><script language="JavaScript" src="http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mc/ ... pt><script language="JavaScript" src="http://geocities.com/js_source/geov2.js ... pt><script language="javascript">geovisit();</script><noscript><img src="http://visit.webhosting.yahoo.com/visit ... 1047165579" alt="setstats" border="0" width="1" height="1"></noscript>
<IMG SRC="http://geo.yahoo.com/serv?s=76001072&t=1047165579" ALT=1 WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=1> “

You need to remove it.

I am not picking errors as you put it - I am trying to help you with your websites to make them look better and get the best out of them.

But, I will take a look at yours too and see what, if anything needs doing.

Cheers

Which images are the problem? I have broadband so don't notice!

You need to remove it.
Strange, the tag you talk about cannot be removed it is added by Geocities to add and advert 'box' to the top left corner. Can you see this ad? Most PC I've tested it on can.

That's better - well done.

Point taken on only really wanting train sim people visit and not overloading Geocities.

As for the images, not all of us have the luxury of broadband with the internet fed down a drainpipe. In fact, broadband is the exception, rather than the rule. Most people are still on 56K and many parts of the world are on much less. As a rule, websites are best optimised for 56K modems and 800 x 600 screens. It will take a while for everybody to enjoy the benefits of broadband.

Your pages with lots of images take a while before they download, which may put a few people off. Try optimising the pictures before uploading to your site.

56k is okay most of the time and even MSTS locomotives don’t take too long to download. However, the route take anything up to three hours to download, which is okay if like me, your on a 24-7 service.
