Trainmad,
Well it depends, the railway is the Festiniog Railway, the town is Ffestiniog... The railway company has always been Festioniog.
the track gauge is nominally 2ft although is also 1'113/4'' which is 1/4 of a inch less than 2ft. As a result makes little difference.

It depends where you're from if you're Welsh it's Ff and if your English it's just one F at the moment It seems that the names on things like signs and timetables are being changed to Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.

Right, this is complex. Names are legel factors, hense the confusion.
The Company is Registered as 'The Festiniog Railway Company'
However, the company owns the trade mark 'The Ffestiniog Railwayâ„¢'.

It's only spelt with on s as well. Slip of the finger methinks...opps
How can it be 2ft and the other gauge?

The difference is about 1/4' which is not enough to make a difference! The wheel tread are thicker....

Most Welsh NG lines are about 2ft. Some are 2ft, some are 1ft 11 and 1/2'.

FR engines have run on the VofR Mountineer visited there a few years back and Parmeston was loned to the VofR in the 1930s or 40s i cant rember exactly when.
I suppose VofR engines might fit on FR below Tan-y-bwlch anyway.

No not that I know of, The VoR dont exactley have many engines... (3) so cant normally afford to lend them out. The VoR engines also have problems on the ffes, cos they are 8ft wide which is somewhat in excess of the FR loading gauge!! Would be nice though, to see a huge Gala somewhere with engines from each NG railway...
The following are '2ft':
The Bala
Llanberis
Festiniog
Vale of Rheidol
Tefi Valley
Welsh Highland
The following are 2ft3:
Corris
Talyllyn
The following are metre guage:
Snowdon
The following are 2ft6
The Welshpool Llanfair
Hope this helps
