Sir Handel hasn't been seen for a long time. It had been phased out by 1982, when the loco ran in red, but as Sir Haydn. Therefore the last time Sir Handel apperd must have been late 1970s.

Sir Handel last ran in 2002, when Duncan had his day out.. We put plastic transfers on the tank, covered the Corris '3 plates with a big '3' and no Corris bit, and of course had his face in store. Duncan was 'unwell' the night before (he broke his sodding boiler tubes which resulted in about 5 of us staying around till 10 to fix him, (lovely scene with No.2 shunting 6 in the dark afterwards)) and we double headed 6 and 3 the next morning just in case ... 6 doing little work (as it happened anohter tube went on Hendy Bank so 3 did all the work)! That is why 3 is painted red, although we say it is a replica Corris livery (compare to No.4's replica corris livery from 1992!) it can turn into Sir Handel in a few hours if needs be....
In those 2 photos, in the top pic. the woman looking up the platform is foreman Liz Green, and the driver of 4 in the second photo is Mike her husband... ! The bottom pic must be 1984, and the top one between 1980 and 1984, but not 1981... No.4 came in as Peter Sam in 1984, but 3 ran down hill in 1981, after it was exhibitioned... (i think) 4's first Peter Sam season was 1984, after the GW green, but im not sure if we did one season without a Thomas engine.

Ok Bruce
...No. 7 too young...No. 1+2 too old...
I could understand about not painting Talyllyn and Dolgoch as Skarloey and Rheneas...but Tom Rolt?!
How new IS Tom Rolt anyways!?

He can't be
THAT new...

Tom Rolt is 12 years old begin built in 1991. However, it is likley that he has not appeare as Ivo Hugh, because not many people know about Ivo Hugh. He has only appered in one book (the last). BTW: Anybody know if Christopher Awrdy is going to continue the Railway Series, or is that it. The last book (book 40) was published back in 1996 and (as far as I know) there have been no books since.

No.7 doesnt go into Ivo Hugh, because up rill 2002 it was on its original R coat of paint. No one knows about the engine either, as it has not made a TV appearance.
I have got osme pics of 3 as Sir Handel - i was cleaning it that morning! Will try and find them and scan them

Answering my own question...
The Railway Series has been put on hold due to publishing problems.
Book 40 is really rare: hense no-one knows about Ivo Hugh.
I have the complete Railway series with expection of books 1 & 3.

The only reason I know who Ivo Hugh is because I have Book #40 "New Little Engine"
That's when Ivo Hugh is made for the Skarloey Rly. But also I kinda guessed that he was Tom Rolt because Learning Curve (OFF TOPIC!) made a wooden set with Ivo Hugh and Circus Cars....totally cheezy too.
(STILL OFF TOPIC)
I wish that the publishers would allow the Awdrys to make more books
(Back on topic)
So we found more pics eh?

COOL!
I hope I'm not making this thread go Off Topic

I do want to find a new avatar though...so why not make it a Talyllyn Rly Avatar

sillyevan27:
Umm basically it is that i just dont like No.3, I find her annoying to work on, difficult to fire and basically an all round poorly designed engine. I much prefer the TR originals, or the later engines, (which are as a whole a lot easier to work on, they also make steam more easily)

No. 3 also looks ugly and horrid. I don't know but I agree with Pitley; she looks hard to work on. No. 1 and No. 4 are better for looks; definatley and No.2 as well.
No. 7 well...all right
No.6 too small and wobbly - Don't mind Her though!
