Unusually fitted with Hackworth valve gear.
Mileage statistics at end of 1998 season: 2,829 miles 1969-1998.

Locomotive Engineering Caretakers: Michael Fuller.

'Melior' has undergone a ten year overhaul and retube this winter (2001/2) and should return to service by the end of April. All work was carried out 'in house' by members of the SKLR.

Mileage statistics at end of 1998 season: 9,181 miles 1969-1994 (last ran 1994).

'Premier' is out of use, standing on a siding adjacent to the shed roads waiting overhaul.

This locomotive is expected to be out of traffic for some time waiting attention unless further volunteer help is forthcoming. In addition, a considerable amount of money needs to be spent on Premier - the locomotive needs a new firebox before a return to traffic can be contemplated.
Any plans on these Kevin?

These locos are a different class (Brazil class as opposed to Tattoo class) and, although similar, are not *that* similar to Corris No4 and would probably require a totally new model. (There is another one at the Great Whipsnade Railway as well by the way)

As John says it would need a new model (or at least a rebuild) and I have no plans to do this at the moment.

At the moment I am concentrating on FR/Whr items.

Well, Little Giant's virtually finished and this completes all the rebuilt Englands. Work has started on the FR's "modern" coaching stock and coach 118 is nearing completion. (picture below).



Vale of Ffestiniog will most likely be the next FR loco. Also work has started on a WHR loco as well.

The modern stock is looking excellent, well done, are you planning to do the 'push pull' sets? In the wonderfully vile green livery?

Yes, personally i just dont think it looks right, although i suppose with the ffes having a modern image it isnt too bad... Would be out of place on one of the more traditional lines..

As indeed is everything else - the last carriage was painted red this winter (either 112 or 114, can't remember which) and the only things left in this livery now are the Criccieth Castle in Boston Lodge and Conway Casle in Dinas. Still, when C set got messed around with a couple of years back and lost 121 which was replaced by 110 then it became obvious why it needed to change - uniformity rules when it comes to rakes of carriages.

The roving reporter is out and about this weekend and hopefully should return with many useful things that can help Kevin in producing more of his wonderful stock.....

I think all the coaches have been painted maroon/cream now. I'm will be making all the coaches. I probably will repaint some into green (to go with Criccieth), They may quite nice models.

I haven't forgotten mountaineer but I really want to get the modern coaches out first to compliment the route.
