REQUEST!

Is anyone doing No6 Douglas for the TR.
Oh and a small prob:
I've created a activity on the TR with No4 BR Black (Edward Thomas). The activity starts just outside Nant Gwernol so the loco would be running tender first, I rotate it in the activity editor and load MSTS choose the activity but when it gets to the last stage it comes up with that annyoing error message! I tried the ACT with Tom Rolt backwards and it works fine and Edward Thomas works front facing forwards but not back!
Help!

Either Steve Pontin or myself will be doing Douglas.
Is the program crash with the Corris 4 repeatable or was it a one off error?

It might be something to do with the consist. Did you create a new one?

Have you tried it with Corris 4 backwards. If it crashes with Corris4 backwards then you can eliminate the black version, if it doesnt then the black version is at fault...
Also to try it fairly, you will need to go into AE and just edit the consist, dont try it with an entirely new one (ie drop one engine out and another one in) Again if it crashes on the same consist no matter which engine, then its the consist, or if all other engines are fine with the same consist then it is most likely the engine.
I must admit I didnt run Corris 4 right down the TR! I only went to Brynglas and back with her... which i thought was enough to prove the engine worked!

I don't think its your repaint. the most likely cause would be the 3d model and there identical.

I've installed the MSTS path which enables tender first running and running round. I've noticed some bounding box issues as well, at Abergernolwyn I ran round my train of 4 coaches (3 bogie and 1 'Lulu') wiht number 20 coah at the head and my loco, No4 pushed them right off the line. It's either the JD Railways Bogie Coaches Number 20 or No4, not tried with No7 or Nos 1-3
I only use No4 and No7 along with coaches 22, 20, 19, 14, 3 & 2
My story; well Nos1-3 are being ovahauled and all the other coaches are in the repair yard with the exception of 'Lulu' who's on 'Granny's Coach Tour',
Any chance of coaches 7 - 17? Or 21 or 23?

I found out that No20 wasn't compatible or something so I now have V2, everything fine. It's like

I've noticed that there are trees to near the line on the stretchs between Nant Gwernol and Abergernolwyn and Dolgoch Falls and Brynglas.

I always use the AI fireman so I'm not sure about this but here goes!
I'm on the uphill section, just after Dolgoch and No4 starts smoking abnormal amouts from just blow and behind the coupling. It get's worse and worse until I get to Abergernolwyn then when the last coach has left the station No4 grinds to a halt and WON'T budge anyfurther so I reverse down to Abergernolwyn and unhook my 4 bogie coaches and she's fine but that smoke is still there and I've ridden up to Nant Gwernol before on No4 with 4 coaches (mind you I only had 3 bogies and 'lulu' on) and there was no smoke nor problems.
Is this a fault or just a heavy train or the AI fireman?
Later on I'll have a look with Tom Rolt and Talyllyn. If there's none other solution to the problem.

This sounds similar to a problem a while back where you couldnt get the train above Aber, I cant remember why, it was something to do with the .eng file and the engine not making any pressure, I think the AI fireman was unable to shovel any coal.... as a result the pressure dropped, to the extent that at Quarry it wouldnt go much further...

Ohh sounds interesting....
Its quite similar to real life now you mention it, ive often seen engines slip badly on the curve out of Aber, on one nasty occasion No.2 was allowed to roll to a halt and stopped 'top dead centre' (ie with the cylinders balanced) as a result the driver had to reverse then drop it into forwards to get the engine moving.... As a result the loco slipped badly.
As for the game, what happens if you increase the locos power? I take it the speed drops down to zero, so with more power does the speed drop and then increase again???
Interesting its with the 4 bogies... this could be a fault of the track which of course didnt get picked up when the route was built cos we didnt have any bogie coaches then! Where is coach '4' (havnt heard it called Lulu in years

) in the consist? At the front, back or middle?

The problem we had before was when we hadn't discovered how to set up engines to run without tenders. I've looked at the eng file of the corris and all seems ok. Not sure what the problem is here.

Yes I also looked at 4's eng file and the tender required reading is at 0.1
Could it be the weight of the bogies? Or possibly to do with the bounding boxes? Bogie coaches have a longer wheelbase, and therefore will overhang the track more (ie come further off center round bends in the middle of the coach) as a result they would possibly need more room, if the coaches are smacking into each other ie almost like buffer lock?
However with 4 wheel coaches this problem is not present because they do not overhang as much? As a rwesult they do not get the buffer lock

It was fine when I had Coach 4 on and anyway it was the 2nd nearest to Dolgoch (if you know what I mean)
