Nice, finally something to run with 509.

Now we have a Hudson D type underframe how about some coaches?

The FR/WHR Toastracks spring to mind.

Don't forget the various 'home built' coaches by perserved railways based on Hudson underframes.

I like these because they were/are as common as muck and in the exitement of modeling unusal things, people forget we need the common things as well!

Good Work, Can't download them because the severs run out of bandwidth, but will do as soon as it resets.

Thanks,

Bruce

P.S.: Good luck with future projects.

Toastracks - how similar to my freelance ones are they? It may be that only minor tweaking is required.

Feel free to send me plans... or I'll send you the bogies if you want to have a crack at it.

Here is a photo:

The Toast Racks were also used at the front line, so inkeeping with your usual stuff.

The FR owns 3 Toast Racks, 2 built in 1971 to a new design, but one of them runs on a underframe from an original toastrack, and the 3rd built in 1996 as a replica of the originals. The FR also sold a original Toastrack underframe to the WHR (Porthmadog) and they are building a new body for it. Info here: http://www.whr.co.uk/enthus/stock/coach_42.html

The Toastracks were proably the most unsuccessfull coaches of the 20th Century, but they are very common!

Hope This Helps

Bruce

P.S.: I have a photo of the FR Replica toastrack, I will dig it out. [/url]

What's my usual stuff? I suppose that WD equipment has featured heavily in my NG postings, but I think my interests are quite eclectic actually... :)

Thanks for the photo, which I also found on the excellent WDLR web site. It was on my list of things to do... but I don't want to mow another man's mushrooms.

Sorry! I ment that on the Narrow Gauge scene you seem to focus main on WDLR equipment. I'm not sure if kevin, will be doing the toastrack yet, but I'm sure he'd be gratefull if you eased his workload.

Actually Bruce, I'm quite enjoying doing the FR stock and now I've done so many I might see if I can do them all.

Ok, Kev, up to you!
If you can do all the FR stock that would be great?

Would you like some Coaches photos I took?

I've dug out the photos I took while in Wales.

I took many Coach shots because they are oftern not the subject of photographs.

I have photos of Coach Numbers:
14
22
100
101
110
111
and 112

As well as 39 - The toastrack, shown here:

If you need any of these, just ask!

After re-reading all my books, I can't find any photos of the toast racks being used at the front line - In any case, I think it would be quite hard for a soldier to sit on that bench in marching order - the most common transport was an open wagon. 'Brass hats' were conveyed in a special inspection coach with nice padded seats - at least in the First Army, and Canadian Areas.

So they're out of scope for my project anyway!
