Atomic Systems

I am thinking about adding the North Bay Railway as an aside on my Scarborough Whitby route. Can anyone who is familiar with it advise if there are any suitable locos and passenger coaches available for Narrow Guage?

If no one claims to have has seen it, I'll post a photo!

The locos look a little like a miniature Scotsman, and the carriages were open, green coloured, with bench seats with backs that fold either way (very similar to the Ravenglass & Eskdale - if there are models for that they should do). The locos are actually diesel so do not really need steam effects.

I'd make a copy of The flying scotsman, half it's scale in SFM, then paint it to look like one of the North Bay locos!

Thanks for the suggestion. It sounds a good idea, but is it as easy as you make it sound? I've used TSM where you would need the original model to rescale it, but what is SFM please? I haven't come across that prog yet.

Shape File Manager, by Decapod.
You can use it to scale bildings, locos etc up or down.
An example of this is in the Corris Railway topic below this, the track is Standard Gauge, bt with all the buildings scaled up, it doesn't look like it!

Thanks. I see, same thing but in reverse! This is my first venture in considering construction of something in narrow guage and see the Welsh locos and rolling stock seem to be in abundance, but other routes such as Ravenglass or Romney Hythe are conspicuous by their absence. Even the NW Trains Ravenglass route is standard guage!

What gauge is the North Bay line? Is it 15ins?

I am not certain, but at a guess, I would say it is pretty close to 15". I only just thought about adding it in last night so I'll have to have a walk and measure it. But I don't think I'll need Tim Court's 1/4 mile ruler though!

Worth a mention, but last week someone set fire to the engine shed. The roof was badly damaged, but fortunately not the locos inside it.

As a youngster, I use to go on it so often while on holiday, they used to give me free rides!!

I've just downloaded SFM so will give it a try - look promising!
