Cant swop cab

Post by RobertM »

Hi all,

Forgive me if this has been answered, but I dunno what too search for :-?

I have made a consist with 2 Ivatt2's double heading, what I wanna do is get from one end of the route too the other, then swop ends (locos) and then head back again in the lead loco.

But when I press '1', a small white blank window appears, same shape as the window that appears when you get a message, and I'm still in the same cab as before :-?

Any help appretiated

Cheers...

Robert :)

Hi
The message should read...."that you can't change cabs while moving" or words to that effect.

Cheers
Jon

PS
I've found in the past that too many consists can have an effect on the text in messages.

Can't swop cab

Post by alanch »

If you aren't getting the text of messages, have you copied the dll files? If not, you should copy the two dll files from the Train Simulator/Translated DLLs/EN folder into the Train Simulator folder.

As for swappong cabs, I find the regulator needs to be at zero, and the brakes full on.

What do you mean by "Swap ends", both locos being at the front of the consist ?

Pressing #1 in any loco which has a *_rv.cvf rear cab file you are still in the same cab but it will be facing the opposite way, which in a steamer is only noticeable when looking out of the sides of the cab.

You can not use the #1 key in a steamer if both the regulator and reverser are being used, but only either set, the other at ZERO and the train brakes applied will let you !

As Alan mentioned. make sure that you have got the 1.6.122319XP English DLLs in the Train Simulator folder !

I have two steam engines double heading at front of the train, and when I get too the end of the line I uncouple & runround the train and head back, but the problem is that now my engine isnt the leading one.

And I only have 1 cvf. file in the CABVIEW folder.

And like I said, I have the reverser & regulator at 0%, and brakes full on.

Do you uncouple both the locos at the front and without turning them around in a WYE siding attach them to the rear of the train, the locos still facing the same way ?

If that is the case then the loco which is attached to the leading loco is now the leading one, to be driven in reverse, heading in the direction the train came from.

After these two locos have been coupled onto the rear of the train then open the F9 window and click on the last loco now at the rear of the train so that it gets a yellow frame.

Pressing #1 then will place you into it's cab but still look forward as before.

Dont you have to use this ?

Click to view more informationRear Cab File Generator for MSTSbin 1.6 [36555 bytes] - rv_cvf_maker_1_3.zip
File ID: 15358 Date: 23 Oct 2006 - 2291 Downloads

then put the cvf file it makes in the 2nd Engine cab file ???

to get what Robert wants or is the above file just for use on Units, diesel and so on

What happens is I run into the station bunker first, uncouple, runround and then couple up again bunker first (bunker coupled too the coach), and the locos are facing loco forward.

That applies to both locos I presume, which are still coupled together ?

You then finish up with both these locos at the other end of the consist but are still in what was the lead loco, which is now the second loco from the rear end of the train.

To switch to driving the loco which is now leading the train in the opposite direction you need to switch to it's cab with F9 - #1, set the reverser to forward and apply the regulator after releasing the train brakes.

You need to install .net framework from Microsoft.

http://update.microsoft.com (I think from memory.) ANd it needs to be in Internet Explorer

The button to press is 1. But only when you've stopped, with the reverser in the middle and the brake on.

Alternatively, just go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en to get the update you need directly, in any browser
