This is getting overly complicated now. I dont think im going to install any further patches until all work is done and the final version is out. All this uninstalling, copying, reinstalling etc is sure to mess my installation up
I'll stick with the first version of 1.6 - i only wanted the memory enhancement anyway and ive got that now

Not a bad approach Laurie. Although the latest patch should improve memory handling even more.
Couple of things I've noticed with 1.6.122319. It seems to allow animations in wag files now and doesn't seem to get hung up on the "Wheels1" and "Wheels2" type statements in the shape file if there are no bogies.
One slightly disconcerting feature is that if I start with a consist with a flipped loco, forward is the forward direction for the unflipped loco, if you see what I mean. That's the way it was for a diesel I tried anyway. I'll have to try a steam loco.

If after changing locos to a rear one you do not look out of it's rearward facing window then hit the #1 key once more !latimers wrote:One slightly disconcerting feature is that if I start with a consist with a flipped loco, forward is the forward direction for the unflipped loco, if you see what I mean. That's not exactly the problem Otto.
I have an activity that starts with a light engine, flipped, double-ended diesel. Currently it doesn't have a rear cab enabled. The activity starts with the loco and the cabview facing into the shed (i.e. away from the path). Under the previous Bin version, when I put it in reverse and increased the throttle, it backed out of the shed. With the latest version, in reverse it goes into the shed and in forward it "backs" out of the shed.

Well the latest version has totally screwed up the driver aids I downloaded and installed after reading http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?t=62701 now I get exclamation marks instead of signal lights. So for me it is off to the backups and remove the latest patch and go back to what I had working before.

John

Me too - everything appears to work OK now.

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558
Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

For some reason, I managed to get the new patch installed properly first time. I've just ran a number of acts, including notorious memory sappers from DC3 & Thames- Mersey, and some that have given grief in the past, and can confirm a slight improvement in frame rates and memory usage. The white voids seem to be a thing of the past, and I've also noticed that several acts on different routes that would not run at all with the previous version now do so.
I see that the next patch version aims to equalise the MSTS clock with the actual run time for acts - another major pain.
So - from where I'm sitting, a big thumbs up and many thanks again to George!
Cheers

Just tested my back-to-back DASH-9 pair with driver cabs at both ends, it's rear "Flipped" and not "Reversed", flipped bogies now turning properly into curves, having renamed it's *_rv.cvf files and starting it in reverse in it's lead loco it did just that and did not go forward !latimers wrote:Under the previous Bin version, when I put it in reverse and increased the throttle, it backed out of the shed. It's been doing that under all versions of MSTS and MSTSBin !
May be a silly question, but your loco pair in that activity path is toggled to normally drive forward into the shed and not out of it ?

Hi Otto.
It's just one loco and in the consist it's flipped. I think that must be what's confusing MSTS Bin. If I unflip it, forward and reverse are where I would expect them to be. When it's flipped, forwards and reverse are the opposite to where I would expect them to be.
It's more noticeable when there's no _rv.cvf, since forwards then must be the end with the cabview on it. And that's the way it operated under the previous patch.
It's only under the latest patch that things get turned around.
With a double ended loco with a _rv.cvf, it's not a problem since there's no real need to have a flipped loco. I'll try a steam loco and see if I get the same thing happening. Then it might make a difference.
Regards,
Bob.
