Heres the latest on my dabblings. I can only say that in RailSim at 1600x1200 it looks alot better...

That's excellent Adam, really realistic. Will it however happen more gradually when released?

When testing I dont want to sit there for hours waiting for the various effects to transition in at real time....:)

Hehe exactly, just making sure it will be changed back to a more realistic rate when released :).

That's good :-) Definitely an improvement on what is present already (which isn't too bad, but the current raindrops look a bit silly).

Had a storm come through here the other day at about that rate. Got so dark in the middle of the day that the street lights came on for a while. Its much nicer to have this on a simulator than to be caught out in it.
