Hello everyone.
I am new to the europe section of MSTS and am trying to purchase the new GR 8 add on due out on February 19th.
I have got as far as the checkout but can not get navigate any further as it appears I need to have a German bank account!!!
Please can somebody advise me how to go about making a purchase.
is there an outlet in the UK?
I am also intrested in getting Volume 4 "Entlang Der Mosel" and Volume 5 Rollbahn 1963.
Volume 8 looks to be very good and will certainly rekindle memories of the many trecks from the UK to Rheine Thirty years ago.

many thanks in advance.
Andrew Moody.

Hello Simon.

Thanks for that allthough the direct link you gave me to Amazon de did not work, I was able to find it via the UK Amazon site but seemed to have stumbled again trying to register.
Is there a English translation of this site available I regret my command of the german language is not very good.
Cheers Andy

If you are familiar with amazon.co.uk the process of buying something on the German site is exactly the same. If you use a translation tool (i.e. http://www.google.co.uk/language_tools?hl=en ) then that should help you work out what's what if you get stuck.

Hi
if you go to this web site http://www.german-railroads.de/ after it opens click on English, then on the bar click on shop.

When the shop opens click on the union jack flag and you can order it in English. It will even give the currency in GBP as well as Euro's, the only thing according to them GR8 isn't due out until April.

I always use them for my German Addon's and never had a problem.

Or you try these again just click on the US/Union Jack flag,

http://www.simw.com their price is £20.25.They use DHL not Parcelforce.
Hope these help.

GR8 is finally out , after a delay of more than 2 1/2 years. Most German MSTS-users however say that it was worth it, as the route is of the same high GR-quality as before.

Due to the enormous size of the route it consumes more than 1.5 GB, so it is delivered on a DVD instead of a CD like before. Most material comes from previous add-ons, with the exception of the BR42 and BR78, the BR624 in its first design (i.e. the pre-computer number era) and the Mitteleinstiegwagen. The BR78 and the Mitteleinstiegwagen were originally part of GT4, which was cancelled half way through back then.

Now that GR8 is out, the wait for GR10 (Köln-Mainz, i.e. the routes around the Rhine, with the routes from both banks, "Linksrheinisch" and "Rechtsrheinisch" being included) begins.. It will be represented in its glory days of the mid-80s, when the Köln/Rhein-Main high speed line only existed on paper, and there were still 2 Germany's :)

Many thanks and sorry for the delay in replying, but have just updated my computer, Should be able to handle this route.
I certainly dont remember the class 78s on that line Certainly there was a class 94 that shunted Emden.
Mind you I didnot get there until 1971.
I take it then that the steam is class 01 10, 42, 44 (Oil fired) and 50?
Looking forward to it.
Cheers

Hallo!
I got my copy of the addon two days ago, and I can say it really was worth waiting for. The addon has got a beautiful scenery, but on the other hand it is quite resource consuming. Maybe a hint from the GR forum could be useful for you: besides closing all background programs start the sim with the option -mem:1024 (if you've got enough memory built in)
As for the steamers class 011 and 012 (01.10 coal and oil fired, old but renumbered to computer numbers), 042 (41 oil, new, made by Stoney, maybe you know his excellent freeware steamers from http://www.train-sim-werk.de/typo3/index.php?id=174 ), 043 and 044 (44 oil and coal, old, renumbered, new sound) There's no class 50, but if you've also ordered Rollbahn 63 you'll get some of them, including such an exotic engine as the class 50.40 Franco-Crosti. The engines I mentioned are the correct ones for the route and the time it is set to. There's also a set of class 82 included, a class already withdrawn in 1971. A class 94 which shunted at Emden can be downloaded at http://www.zugsimulator.de/new/_cms/index.php Ironically class 82 was built to replace class 94, but the old Prussian engine survived longer. And then there's the class 78 (new, excellent, new sound also to be used for class 38 engines). This class really wasn't on Emsland route in 1971, but it's a very welcome addition for every steam lover.
The little confusion in eras (and the long waiting time) was the result of the fact that the initial route builder was forced by personal reasons to stop building, and that Christian Wendt, the creator of the last GR routes completed the work. (I think in a great manner!)
I think Emsland and Rollbahn 63 represent the era I like best (and you seem too) very well, although Rollbahn isn't as detailed as the latest route, of course.
One hint for the Mosel route: If you don't like the big colour patches (a try to improve signal visibility) change the LODs of the signal shapes and force the big patches out of visibility as I did.
I wish you lots of fun with your new addons.

Keep on steamin'!

Hi all

I am thoroughly enjoying playing GR8. I have a P4 3.0 CPU X850XT 250MB AGP Radeon Card 2GB RAM. I have got train store and MSTS bin, the question is, I get quite a bit of juddering, I know this is what MSTS does as its an old graphics engine, however, I have a X1950 PRO AGP card 512 MB I can put in, has anyone got a set up or similar set up, in other words, with the new card will it stop the juddering a lot? Otherwise, can someone tell me what set up they have and does it run smoothly, only I am seriously thinking of getting a new computer because the graphics are improving all the time on MSTS.

Any help will be much appreciated.

I have not got a sata hard drive and the 2GB RAM is SD RAM.
My computer will not take PCI Express.

Regards

ABABAB

Hallo!
The only method to get rid of the juddering completely could be using a solid state disc, as someone at the GR forum recommended. The juddering is a matter of the HD and not so much of memory or graphics card. Maybe doing a defrag could help a bit.

Hi all

I am playing GR8 thoroughly enjoying it. The spec of my computer is a couple of replies up from this.
I cant seem to play about half the acivities mainly diesel ones on long journeys, I've got train store, MSTS Bin on, graphics not set too high etc and still cant seem to get the activities to work.
I get unable to load this and that. Is it because I haven't got a sata hard drive or what? I know this is not too informative so any small reply would be helpful.

Cheers

Hallo!
Did you download and install the update available at http://www.german-railroads.com/de/download.html ? (Go to the German section because the update isn't in the English section yet.) The authors repaired errors, and also reworked some acts to improve performance. For example there are extreme and normal versions of some acts now. Nevertheless GR8 remains a challenge for every PC. Here a summary of all measures which might improve performance: Defrag HD, reboot PC before playing, close ale programs in the background, the "-mem:1024" option (can be entered in TrainStore Tools\options\MSTS start settings). There's also a file "hinweise msts.pdf" about the settings of MSTS in the Material folder of your installation DVD. (with pictures, not much knowledge of German necessary) They recommend turning down the settings for the range of visibility, number of sounds, and as a last remedy the density of world objects. Using the last option you will lose some of the beautiful details of the route.

Hi all

Dietmar thank you for your reply (VERY HELPFUL). I had already downloaded the patch from GR, I forgot to state this.
I then entered the "-mem:1024" it made quite a difference, I have everything running smoother than before.
Just to let anybody know if this is helpful to them, I have all sounds fairly low and all shadows off, I am quite playing the game (GR8) without these, all other sliders etc are virtually just one notch down. I obviously get some juddering but put this down to not having a sata hard drive.

Many thanks
