I model the DR in 2mm to the foot in 3 dimensions so was intrigued by Pro Train 5.

I think it has captured the atmosphere of the old East Germany very well, with some excellent rolling stock (particularly the coaches) and very credible scenery. I was slightly disappointed with the Br01.5 pacific though as I think there is a better freeware version available. Dresden Hbf with its overall roof is very impressive.

I would have preferred the route to have been set a little earlier than 1985, before electrification, but that's just my own personal preference. It didn't take long to set up an activity with a Br03 Reko from TheTrain.de and have a couple of hours of a run down the length of the main line, although the middle section runs a bit short of interest with the odd 20km or so where you can go and put on a cup of tea - there aren't really any major stations between Berlin and Dresden.

Because I'm not such a fan of driving electrics on push-pull commuter workings I thought the activities were a little bland given the miles of track on offer, though it's quite fun setting up an activity with a Br52 deputising for a failed electric and trying to keep to the electric timings!
