Just a quick update - I have taken the plunge and made a start on the above project. Got the first section terraformed and the primary markers done. I'm not going to give any estimate on completion time as there's 173 miles to do and while most of it is just terrain and forest there's a lot of lakes and rivers to put in. Hopefully some time in the new year.
I've somehow found a real determination to do this one - probably due to my love of obscure, wilderness railway lines and intend to push on and get it done.

Really good news to hear about your route. Could you let us know:
a) will it be an accurate representation of the line
b) where your start and end points will be
Noticed on train-sim.com too that the Oslo-Bergen route is being built:

Great to see more of Scandinavia on MSTS!

It will be as accurate as I can make it!
Terrain is being done via the "usual" TS Tools method and should be accurate. The track course should be accurate. Where things get a little hazy is the gradient profile - despite an appeal on several Scandia rail forums I have been unable to find one. However almost the next best things, the Swedish 1:50,000 maps have spot heights every 1 - 2km along the path of the route so the general gradients can be surmised from these.
I have photographs of several stations which will assist in making models reasonably close to the prototype though those for which I haven't will be surmised. What I don't have is a detailed track plan per se of stations on the route nor details of speed restrictions which will have to be best guess.
At the moment I'm hoping the route will cover the northernmost section from Arvidsjaur to Gallivare, depending how construction goes. The fallback point would be Arvidsjaur to Jokkmokk though a bit pointless without going all the way.

Or IOW, Northern Line, Seaton Tramway... Actually the latter is still on the HD but hasn't been progressed lately. Like most people I've started one or two projects with great enthusiasm but lost my way after a month or two looking at the great green void. However you do start to get a feel for whether a project is a go-er and this one seems to be, I wouldn't have spent nearly £50 on maps (and another 5 to get) if not. Of course nothing is guaranteed in MSTS or indeed life for that matter. I'm not putting a timescale on release other than a vague "2005, early, possible" but what I am doing is modifying my route building technique to provide a better spread and variety of work as three - four weeks tracing contours would drive me potty. At least most of the scenery will be water, wilderness and forest.
