SOUND IMPROVEMENT!!!,BUT?
Hi Folks
I fitted a sound card yesterday With much appreciated advice from the UKTS community , & it has improved things greatly Never mind the actual improvement in sound quality it's self I maxed all the sound settings & turned graphics to best performance & even on Dorset Coast or LSE I rarely now go into Single FPS & get all Bells, Whistles & bleeps etc etc ( even hear Bird song on some Routes)
Even with just windows running & a couple of web pages open & MS Messenger Running ,with Own board Sound I used to get "FreeRam Xp Pro 1.4" showing approximately 750 to 820 MBs of My 1.25GB free now since the installation of the Sound Card I sometimes get 1000 plus MB free .
But as our Chinese friends would say "For Every Sweet There is a Sour",& my own particular sour is it has doubled my windows boot up time, Does anybody know of any way I can tweak this to speed things up ?, I have magic Defrag so my HDD never gets fragmented & it was working fine till Sound card was installed
Regards
Pete
PS
I was unsure were to Put this Here or IN Open as It is I suppose more General than TS related So if a moderator deems it needs to be moved please feel free to move it to Open

I've just dragged a sound card out of one of my old door stop PCs and installed it in my latest, quite an improvement!
One thing I noticed though was that even with the on-board sound switched off in bios the AC97 drivers were still loading up in windows and conflicting with my soundblaster ones. I had to delete them from the system, it didn't improve the boot-up speed, but then I've got so much security . loading up to stop my daughter trashing the system it has always taken ages.

It the did first time after the move ;It tried to reinstall its self I allowed it to do this but then after that the system boot up stalled at the memory / device check screen.
I had to start in safe mode then restore by last Good config & the original drivers were installed again but despite the port move it still takes 300 plus seconds to start sometimes
