I have not posted here on the sound forum before, but it sounds like the right place to find an answer to the error message I am getting.
"SMS error: In reading all streams--too many streams"
The message then goes on to define the specific sms file and the message ends with "line 100". I know from the pesky error with correct number of '(' that this should point to the location of the error but I am lost.
Thanks for any help that may be forth coming.

Hi Sharon.
What sound set is it? I've run into this but I can't remember which sound set. The problem was a couple of missing ')' in the .sms file which were not easy to track down. I used UltraEdit to match brackets and eventually figured out which ones were missing - at least I got the error message to go away.
Regards,
Bob.

Hi Sharon
Its long winded... but if its line 100 it will be there.
Count from the top....including space(empty) lines.
100 is not too bad ....550 odd is a real pain....but sometimes I've had too.
Cheers
Jon
PS
It might be as easy as checking how many streams are specified agaisnt how many are actually listed....they should match of course.

Context does line numbers and brackets and can be tailored to suit MSTS.

The line number quoted is not always the one with the fault.
If it is a missing braket it will be the line that confuses MSTS. Often beyond the end of the file and into the next one.

Open it with notepad, turn off word wrap then go to view > status bar and it shows the line number at the bottom.
The too many streams error means that there are more streams in the sms file than the number specified.
You can increase the number of streams in the problem file by going near the top of the problem sms file and changing the number next to 'Streams'.
