how to make the cylinder cocks make a sound

The SMS sound system in MSTS 1 has been quite well understood for some time, but there are still new things being learned as well as a wealth of information about what's already known that you can learn here.

The ELR and KWVR CD locos are able to do this, but I don't think any others can...

Hi

From what I understand it involves some spectacuarly complex sms file changes, as well as the neccesary wav's, so my advice is to buy one/both of these routes, as not only will you be able to find out how they work, but you will alos be putting something back into these two great preserved routes! :)

Excuse my ignorance of sms files etc...But if when pressed the space bar triggers a sound and a visual effect, i.e...whistle sound and steam effect from whistle, could it not be possible to make the "C" key also trigger the sound of the cylinder cocks as well as the visual steam effect? Or is that too complicated to even think about? :-?

The first time I ever heard a sound effect for the steam cocks were on the St. Louis & North Arkansas moguls. They are available for download over at Train-sim.com. Perhaps you could glean the info you require from them.
