Dual Cab Views And Running In Reverse

Hi folks, has anyone come up with a way to switch cabs on dual cab locos?
It is possible in Auran's Trainz by just pressing the C button. The only way I can do it with MSTS is to set the Headout View looking out the rear of the loco, such as:"( 0.8 3 7 ) but I'm limited to forward, left and behind views when running in reverse. It would vastly improve the scope for activities using diesel and electric loco's and D/Emu's.

You can alter the camera angle of the right view to look backwards but still using the forwards view ace...but its not fully satisfactory.

Cheers for that, JBilton, you'd think Microsoft would have thought of it.

I can't remember what it was, but I've driven a locomotive in MSTS that had both a front and rear cabview. The front cabview had all the controls visible whereas the rear cab didn't. Does anyone know how this is done? Can it be done with a pair of locos or even with a loco at each end of a consist? The reason I ask is that I've made an activity with a lot of reversing points and it would make it a lot more realistic if you could switch from the front to the rear cab and back again as necessary rather than having to use the external view half the time.
Any help much appreciated.

You can either do it by using the passenger view "5" or as jbilton said above, using the right view or left view in view "1".

Yeah, I read that bit, but how do you actually make the number 5 view into a rear cab view?

If its one loco no problem - just see something like the default KIHA ENG file to see how. (clue. its the INSIDE bit)
If you want the no.5 view in a loco at the other end of the train, you have to make sure there are no other wagons with passenger views inbetween. When you press 5 MSTS goes to the first wagon with an interior it comes to.

Thats got me confused now....thought i'd been missing out all these years...but the Kiha has a passenger view 5...built on a seperate 3D shape...same as the very nice Craven cab.
This method depends on how well the original model maker did the internal graphics(or if they have provided a seperate 3D shape)....so basically it doesn't give you much better than moving the headout view.
The method I described gives you a good view by using the right (in UK) view to look backwards(180)....but using the forwards ace file.
Single locomotives are easy(ridgid body) and the (Class 71 does it)...multi units dont work properly so you've better off with the pass view(with the limitations previously mentioned)
Ps If you've got the NVR...the toffee apple has got a very nice 3D cab shape...but it isn't used ,and the wrong way round by default....strange.

Using the 5 view to get a backward look in a diesel shunter, copying the Kiha excatly, except of course changing the positions figures and the sms to one in the loco's own sound folder, I get a lovely view - but no sound! Any thoughts????

Hi
Yes you have to enable the passrngercam in the sms folder...see below
ScalabiltyGroup( 5
Activation (CabCam ()PassengerCam ()Distance (100))
Deactivation (ExternalCam () Distance (100))
Stereo ()

Thanks for the tip re enabling, but this only gets me the sound of the engine idling, no increase as throttle opened or other sounds, eg.horn. I have tried both the cab sound and the eng sound files with this change, now called NZpas.sms and I have tried changing the distance perameter. Any more ideas?

Sorry I've confused you....you dont need to write a new sms file...just enable the passengercam in the xxxcab.sms file.
By moving the passengerCam entry from the deactivated section into the activated section....then you'll hear all the cab sounds in the passenger view.
If you were doing this for a true(coach) passengerview you would do it to the xxxeng.sms...as you wouldn't want to here the sounds of the levers etc.
