The Great Race
I would be gratefull if anyone could let me know how they got on with this activity. Have I got the timings right so that the two services in the race finish relatively close to each other?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Gary.

That'll happen if you're late. You lost. The old steamer beat youDid it with D9016, But as i drew up to a Red signal next to P'bro (Waiting to go into the platform), the A4 Passed on the opposite Track and Went straight into the platform!

Was its removal a case of polical correctness, as it sounds a little politically incorrect after some of the recent happenings on the line which I see have been respected by Tim in his route's new extension. However, none of the postings here appear critical of the activity. Such 'races' really did take place when the East and West coast main lines were trying to prove theirs was the fastest route to the north. I seem to remember that a race to Edinburgh from London which was won by the East Coast Line when the result was almost a dead heat, but the signalman favoured the East Coast train and let it into the station first!
I was looking forward to trying it when I had MidEast installed, which I now have, and what a wonderful route Tim has made. I doubt whether many commercial routes could better it.
The idea of a race is interesting though as one can compare one's driving skill with the AI train, if you get it wrong, I guess you'd lose the race!
Any chance of e-mailing it, pse, and sorry if anyone's offended by my request? Don't forget these are not real trains, and it is installed in a directory called "Microsoft Games". I'm sure Neptune5... wouldn't advocate Virgin give GNER a race along the route (though it wouldn't suprise me if they did!)
Thanks
John

Forgive me if I sound at all insensitive - that is in no way my intention. I have not personally downloaded the activity, but as I understand from the posts it is just about racing 2 trains. If the accidents of recent years are being referred to by your e-mailers, then I'm sure anyone familiar with the rail industry would agree and know that neither accident was caused by "racing."
I am sure that no-one related in any way shape or form to this site would ever construct an activity based around any of the tragic events of railway history.
A "friend of a friend" was involved (but thankfully not seriously injured) in one of the accidents - so I am not about to cast the accidents off as nothing. Being still within the same year as the most recent one, means feelings are still obviously high.
But where do we draw the line? The time for mourning has no material date to end on I know. So if this activity (which from posts I can see has had a lot of work done on it) must be pushed away in the interests of "political correctness" then should we be petitioning local computer stores to remove the latest war games? Within those, are real similarities to what has happened in the past.
I would hope that everyone here is mature enough to see where I'm coming from and not miss my point.
I say upload the activity again. (Then at least I can maybe download and see for myself!)

I had typed a long and heated post but thought the better of it. To summerise my thought's.
The race is a good idea and Most railway Accident's are caused by Track/ point's and signal failure's/ error's. Look at record's.
I say upload the Activity again, because If you don't like the idea of it, don't Download it.
