Having spent many years train spotting near my grandma´s house, I can remember like yesterday the state of some of the older locos of the day. One thing I have notice in this great sim is that I cannot remember any scenarios with the loco facing the other way around (running tender first).
Around our way there were not many turntables, so locos return trips worked tender first. The expresses passing throught were different because of main termini turntables and triangles.
It does seem strange not seeing locos running tender first. Is there a reason for this, even when running on there own (light engine).
Sorry if this has been asked before.

Re: Loco running.
You will see them sometimes, but i guess we all mostly like to see the loco's running forwards. Also until recently, msts had a problem with the front couplers which made coupling/uncoupling very problematical. Although this has largely been fixed now by the Bin patch, its still the reason why a lot of activities always had the loco facing forwards.
I have, however written a couple. If you have the Evesham route, Return to Ashchurch features the loco running tender first and is my most recent with tender first running

Re: Loco running.
I've yet to see a brakevan being propelled.
It was common practice and allowed up to 16miles but signalmen turned a blind eye.
I've been propelled several times to Mossend from Millarhill and even Perth.
It was usually done on out and back runs where no traffic was availiable one way.
Only snag was that the guard had to keep on his toes to watch for signals and handsignal the driver.
