How is everyone doing with this act,it'd be interesting to know if it's working or not and what I could improve for future activities

Re: 06.40 Plymouth - Aberdeen
Hi Jamie
Have just got finished with runnin 90% of your Plymouth to Aberdeen XC activity and i have to say i thoroughly enjoyed it. The fact of having your extra info on line speeds made it all the more challenging in itself, and gave me something else to concentrate on.
The activity ran very well, however one thing i would point out for future reference is this...When arriving at Tiverton i believe it was, there was a 158 already in the station waiting to depart. What made me giggle was that the entire unit except the last set of doors had completely over-ran the platform
This isn't anything you've done wrong, just simply the way MSTS handles AI stopping at station markers. For that i would recommend using a waiting point about half/three quarters of the way along the platform, just so it doesn't look so odd. The head of the AI set will stop almost exactly where you put the waiting point, whereas with the station markers...MSTS makes allowances for a steam/diesel engine or two on the front, hence the overhang.
The reason i said i'd only done 90% of the act is simple, some idiot (pointing to self) didn't think to save at anypoint, and the cable for my laptop had fallen out without me realising. Next thing i knew my battery was dead.
I shall re-run the activity probably tomorrow evening and attempt to reach Bristol!
Very well done mate, and i look forward to your next activity.
Kindest regards.
Simon

Simon,Exeter drivers take over that service at Taunton so it might explain the overshoot at Tiverton
Seriously,I know you find it funny, nut it frustrates me when DMU's run so far down the plaftorm,I will look at putting waiting points on the next activity. Glad it worked for you though it was the first thing I've ever put out for public use so it's pleasing to know that there were no problems with it.
The next one will be the 09,44 Derby to Plymouth(starting at Bristol) so people can in effect drive the return journey back to Plymouth.

To make an AI stop in the centre of a platform, add a few 35ft spacers in front of it.
The front spacer will still stop at the platform marker but, as theyare invisible, the train will appear to stop further back.

Well done a good activity. Also I didn't notice the problem mentioned above, just shows how observant I am, probably a good job I'm not a train driver in real life.
