1L75 Ipswich- London Liverpool Street

Post by NeneValleyRailway »

Hi all,

My next act in development is a run from Ipswich to London Liverpool Street in a 'One' Anglia' Turbostar. You are running behind an Express for London, so you will encounter Yellow and red aspects along the way to keep you on your toes

I have completed the AI/Statics for Ipswich to Colchester, so got the rest of the run to finish off and test.

Promising, and I'll admit that you got me interested at first.

However Dusty Bins and EWS Sheds in Ipswich Freightliner loco yard, is a very bad mistake if you want the activity to be as realistic as possible. There should really be Freightliner 66s, 86s and 90s in there. Also if you want to be really accurate, you should use my 47370 reskin.

To me that comment came across as demanding, not suggestive or constructuve criticism...If i've mis-understood, and got defensive for no reason except my apologies, but STILL....

What there should be, and what there is...are two different things :-? This isn't your activity, therefore you have no say over what should be where, or how something happens. :)

Let the kid build HIS activity HIS way!

**EDIT**
Ok, you edited your's, i'll edit mine! :)

Second attempt sounds much better, and can be read as simple constructive criticism. Again, i do apologies for going out on a lim and shoving in my two cents, but i'm glad you saw how badly it sounded yourself :)

Kindest Regards.

Simon :morning:

Hmmm, Ok re-reading it, I see what you mean...

I just feel strongly about the accuracy of activities and seeing something that looks totally wrong to me just put me off it.

I'll re-word it...

OK folks - can we all climb down off the soap-boxes ?

People who generate content - whether it be activities, routes, or stock do so for the love of doing it. A number of activities on the UKTS CDs are not "prototypical" but rely on varying degrees of artistic licence. My sole activity of the NWE 2.1 CD is such an example.

Having a go at someone for their activity not being 100% accurate is not really on. They took the time to write and debug it so for that I thank them. I may never run it depending on whether the basic idea "floats my boat" - in the case of DMU / EMU runs probably not since I like hauling freight in large quantities and don't like frequent station stops.
Kindest regards

I dont really know what to say in response, as it seems to be sorted. Lee, I accept your comments and will probably act upon them, having not been to Ipswich station before I was a little clueless as to what locos/units were stabled there. I really dont mind constructive criticism but I can see the point Simon and John were trying to make.

I can see Lee's point, but it was worded a bit wrong at first...

It can also depend if the person making it wants a long stocklist or just use 321s as a supplement keeping the list lower, its hard to keep everyone happy really.

Like on Thames-Mersey, I use Silverlink 321s on modern day acts, yes I know these are gone off some of the duties but saves people forking out for the desiro pack. On other activities I might add the desiros for people that have them...

cheers,

james.

That's the problem with forums, you can't express it the way you want to express it, seeing it written down people perceive it differently, if that makes sense...
