Activity Editor problems

Hope this is in the right place so here goes. For a while i was having problems opening some of my routes in the Activity Editor. I put this down to the number of routes and stock I had and the fact that I didnt have Train Store installed. I eventually installed Train Store and even though general gameplay was improved I still cannot open some routes.
For example, I cannot open anything on East Coast Express or West Coast Mainline but I can open my Glasgow to Carlisle and Scottish Central routes. If I want to open an activity for East Coast Express I can open the editor, navigate to the activities folder and select the activity but from there nothing happens for a minute or so before I then get a message saying "train.exe" failed to repond and asking if I want to send error report.
I have tried looking through the forums and couldnt see anything that matched exactly what I was getting but from other bits I have read I have tried using the lowest graphics settings and installing original driver for my nvidia graphics card.
I currently use Train Store version 3.2 (build 3.2.0.555)
I would really gratefull for any advice on this.

Hi
I did have this problem for a while. What you could do is open up train store, select the route and rolling stock you want. That is a simple solution. Also do you unstore everything in train store? Also using too much CPU could affect this. If this is the problem, open the task manager and close and processes you don't need. If you don't know what you are doing i wouldn't suggest this. Hope any of these suggestions solves your problem

Hi
Something else that helps is to open a small route and then turn off platform, sidings names etc, then close AE.
Hopefully then when re-opening the larger route in AE it should be OK.
Cheers

Thanks Jon that seems to have done the trick. The only time it doesnt work is if i am getting an error with a train/consist.
Is there any way of editing AI consists without using the Activity Editor (route riter perhaps)? The reason i ask is that I downloaded an activity and all stock required only to realise that there was another train/consist required thats from a different route and not available as a download so I want to swap it for an equivelant.

you can use Route Riter to replace consists.
It might be possible with conbuilder, but I haven't tried that yet.

Conbuilder is designed to edit consists - even Conbuilder Lite will do that. If you know what you are doing, you can edit the .con files by hand with a Unicode editor like Context (search on that with my username). Or you might like to have a look at Activity Analysis for replacing stock items.

Ok, I seem to be having this problem too, except I have tried all suggested, and not got anywhere. Similar problem, I can open some routes for example the Worth Valley, Ffestiniog and Glasgow to Carlisle, but I can't open West Coast Mainline, East Coast Express, DCV5, GlosWarks or Great Eastern, to name but a few. I use Train Store version 3.2 and everything has worked fine up until I have installed Nene Valley Railway this morning. I'm not sure what to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly open an activity for one of the 6 default routes which come with msts. Then turn off as many of the views as you can do without, Jon listed some of them above, but there are others you can possibly live without. Exit the activity editor, which should save those settings, as restart it and now try a route giving problems. It ought to open ok now.
Make sure also that you are only opening one route at a time, and for some of the bigger routes like Dorset Coast, only one activity at a time. There are too many paths in Thames Mersey and Dorset Coast for the editor to handle all at once. Use trainstore to store all route you dont want, and all activities as well.

Hi Tom
Check your tsection........NVR installs its own version.... which is well out of date.
(Your original tsection will have been re-named 'prenvr').

I had the same problem- Standard routes are OK but East Coast Express acivities bombed Activity editor. The solution I used that's not mentioned here is to change the display properties to 16-bit colour quality.

Probably not mentioned because the AE is working - it's just some routes he cannot load.

Yes, Conbuilder can edit thge AI consists, it can edit the Loose consists as well. In the Pro version, ConBuilder_lite will edit AI consists.
