I have got 2 queries concerning the activity editor and I have listed these below:

1. I am creating an activity for the Wupper Express version 11 and I have been creating a AI traffic pattern for the activity but I was just wondering how may AI services can you place in one traffic pattern. The reason I ask this is because I have had problems previously with adding too many AI services to a traffic pattern and the actvity has crashed when loading it up in MSTS. When I had this problem I made sure none the AI services were not conflicting so its now down to this.

2. A new problem I am experiencing is when I goto test the activity using the 2D simulator in the activity editor. The whole editor crashes when I press play on the 2D simulator. I have checked the traffic is not causing this error by running the activity in MSTS and it runs fine. I have Installed the Patch 1.4 and the 1.7 bin patch could this be causing a problem.

Im not aware of any limit to the amount of AI traffic, certainly i have written activities which use 70 different traffic patterns, without any problems. How many have you got so far?
There can be a problem if you start too many off at the same time and, on some routes, the time interval needs to be quite long depending on the signalling. 5 minute intervals i usually aim for.

Make sure you are only running the editor in 16 bit colour at 1024x768 resolution or lower. Its not happy higher than that. Remember also that the player in the editor never runs the activity as it will run in the Sim, so testing in the sim is the only real way to test.

Personally I never play the activity in the editor.

Thanks for the reply. Got at least a 100 AI services in this traffic pattern but I do plan to create a traffic pattern which will have contain all the AI services for a full 24 hours. Would this be recomended or would you suggest I break it down into many smaller traffic patterns?

What you need to remember is that msts has to keep a track of everything in the traffic pattern. So if you have a 24 hour pattern but want to drive a one hour activity starting at 10am, it has to load in and calculate the positions of every item of traffic as it runs the activity. Im not sure if it will even be capable of doing that, but i suspect thats where your problem is.

Personally you only need a traffic pattern for the duration of the activity you are writing. Any more is just a waste of very scarse resources and increasing the burden on the sim.
