ideas and suggestions for GNEReastcoast activities needed

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

ideas and suggestions for GNEReastcoast activities needed

Post by XPTE »

Anyone got any ideals/suggestions for scenarios for some new GNEReastcoast activities? I've made several now that are purely based on real timetabled schedules and with no delays, but not sure I'll stick to that format for future activities for this route as they will become very 'samey' as one another. I've made 2 special scenario activities for this route(the 'Flying Scotstman special!' series) but am not very good at thinking any more up. Anyone got any good suggestions? Perhaps a new freight activity is needed for this route?

Yep, something freighty is needed, and/or something that runs the length of the line - most of yours stop half-way! :)

Yep, most of mine have been based on WAGN services, hence only using the KX-Pbro line. I'll probably work on extending the '10 GNER express to Peterborough' activity all the way to York very soon. The approach into York should be interesting as I'll try and include all real timetabled scheduled services that run through this station.

As for a freight activity. How does a freight run running from York-Kings Cross(or vice versa) using a Class 47 sound? Never done a freight activity before due to it being a bit more complicated to set up in AE, but I'll try and give it a go. What I need though in some ideal of a scenaria for a freight activity, i.e. what freight would I need to pickup and drop off and to where, etc. Any ideas Asalmon, or anyone?

Oh ye, whilst I'm here. Watch out for a new activity which involves driving the NS Regiorunner from Euro Loco which I'll upload very shortly. It will use the same traffic pattern as the 1906 to Grantham, so it should take no time and trouble in setting it all up in AE.

What about a sleeper activity? something late at night.

Or a Royal Mail train?

The trouble with night activities is the darkness... Wouldn't be so bad if the AI traffic had their lights on, or even passenger carriages spilt light onto the line. I usually use Activity Changer to move these activities into the daytime.

Freight activities suffer the same problem here, when shunting backwards, it's next to impossible to see points and buffers. Where's the guard with the lamp and signals?

Yep, it was really odd on the kx-grantham activity, go into the passsenger view and it's complete darkness- but the lights are lit up!

Yep, there's no point having night activities which use trains which dont feature A1 lighting. Thats why I used the Euro Loco stock for th KX-Grantham activity because of the A1 lighting. We do need more British trains being uploaded to UKtrainsim that feature full A1 lighting though! Cant be that difficult to do can it?

A sleeper activity would be good. But again we'd have to use the Euro Loco stock. Plus there wouldn't be much in the way of traffic. London-York with hardly any traffic to pass and clear signals all the way? Hmmm....

There's allready a Royal Mail activity for this route done by Simuk, 'Christmas Mail' I think its called. Wouldn't do any harm to create an alternative one though!

Ive been working on a passenger act for about a month now (on and off) from KX to York with loads of Ai traffic, nearly ready to upload, I would like someone to do a freight act with some pickups and drop offs as I dont know howto do that in the AE.

what about a freightliner activity using the two class 86's in freightliner
they are restricted to 75 mph so even more realistic
suspending with pain the WCML (fict)

I've just started work on a new activity which will use the entire length of the route. Can't say anything more about it, I'll leave it as a surprise! But if you like nice long activities and with loads of A1 traffic then you'll be in for a treat.

Surprised no one has created an activity in which you drive a Deltic yet! I'll get round to doing one of them if no one beats me to it.
