MS Euston to Watford DC

Post by jtiffin »

When I start Train Simulator with the activity MS Euston to Watford DC, I get this error message saying

Error reading train database file

File:Trains\Trainset\TC_EH2_MK2F_Coaches_IC\TC_EH2_MK2F_BSO_IC.wag

and then it goes to the main menu.

But have you installed all of them? The Mark 2F coaches were released some time later, so it sounds to me like you perhaps don't have them installed.

When I am about to start the activity, I get errors looking for the shapes for the route.

I get errors looking for the shapes for the route.
Are they failed to find errors, or failed to load errors.? They mean different things.

Failed to find errors are due to the shapes files not being correctly copied from the default msts routes into your Mersey folder. Did you run the batch file (Installme.bat i think its called) in the Mersey folder?

Failed to load errors are due to your processor not being able to load the data quick enough from your hard disk. Try turning all settings down two notches and set sounds to medium. Use trainstore if you arent already, and think about installing the msts Bin patch too which helps memory management.

If neither of these help some examples of the error messages would be helpful. Note down or take a screenshot of some ( not all of them) so we can take a look.

I started the path right from the start of the track - I think the line extends through the scenery rather than stopping at the buffers. If I use that path again, I will move it slightly, otherwise feel free to move it. I don't think it will mess up the activity, but you can always reinstall the activity if theres a problem :)

Re the EH2 pack, the Mk2 Coach packs are File IDs 17483 and 17487. It may well be that the missing item is from one of these packs. Thinking back, I think I only included one of these File IDs in the readme, I will look at adding a note in the download file, or reuploading with an altered readme file.

Because a lot of the EH2 files depend on eachother, I thought there may be some issues, but more likely with consists than missing stock :P

Oops :( You obviously didnt beta test it then or you would have spotted that the first time you ran the activity.

Actually, I did test it thank you very much, but didn't fix that particular problem. :-?

As you have probably experience, there are often bigger problems in activities that crop up in testing, than stock overlapping scenery; I don't have the patience to write activities lasting several hours with large amounts of interweaving traffic :o so top marks there!. I did a 2 hour one on Thames-Mersey once, and that was hard enough :P

I actually had to eventually delete a couple of AI trains from this one, that refused to appear when I wanted them. I could have used short paths rather than over the full length of the route, but that would have been a waste of a service IMHO. Thats why there are fewer Up trains than Down ones.

I have now reuploaded with a corrected player path and readme file.
