East Coast Express Route and Steam - Possible?

Many steam-era activities have been produced for LSE.

What are the possibilities of setting the time back with the East Coast Express route and producing steam-era activities?

Hi David

I, for one, have thoughts about more steam era ECML activities. It's just a case of getting round to them! Is Mid East or ECE preferred? One thing is, neither have the correct KX layout... hmmm.

Cheers

In my opinion I ould think MidEast 2 would be best of the 2 routes for steam activities, as it is pre electrification without overhead gantries where as ECE 12&3 have overhead gantries.

It would be possible to create steam era activities using Mid East Plus (soon to be released)

The timeframe is baised around the early 70's so it won't look out of place with steam power.

Not a steam activity but one set in the blue diesel era...

In "Before the power was turned on", it's 1976 and the wires have been hoisted for the Great Northern suburban electrification but, as yet, they have not been energised. The activity is a Class 31 hauled morning commuter trip from Welwyn Garden City to Kings Cross on the East Coast Express route.

Not what was asked for, I know, but the oldest I could come up with for the route that I thought might be interesting.

David, I hope you will enjoy this instead:

It has surprised me that I can find no activities created involving Deltics.

Half the attraction of this route would be to run Deltics on it.

Have I failed to find them or has nobody done any for ECE?

I was making a diesel special with blue grey Mk1 stock hauled by a deltic but putting in all the traffic is seriously putting me off. The activity would be a christmas special from York to London KX on a winters morning then the return journey on a cold winters night. I might just start putting in all the stock if I have time in between collage work, work and volunteering as well as all the projects that I am currently re-building.

Regards

That is good to hear Karl. If you can find time to do it, me and (I'm sure) a lot of others would be very appreciative.

I can offer this Deltic activity on the Mid East Steam route:
