New Activity - Southern Scenes on LSE (7)

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

New Activity - Southern Scenes on LSE (7)

Post by dee4141 »

Hi, this activity has just been uploaded for approval. After taking a couple of months to write with several changes of route and more updated Traffic files than I can remember, I think this will be my last for LSE for a while. :D

that could mean that one of the static consists is not properly placed (not all cars on the track or too close to the buffers)

Which static consist will that be (none have the number 200027)?

Hi David
AFAIK that is a standard MSTS message....I don't think you can count car numbers.
The way I've found them in the past is to open the activity with the AE....and have a look at the statics....if your lucky you'll see the one thats causing the trouble.
Cheers

David,

I have run this activity more times than I care to remember and never had this error message. I didn't make any changes to static consists before packaging the activity so I'm a bit puzzled. I'll run it again tomorrow to check...........sorry for the hassle.

I had a message like that - don't know if identical - whilst developing my activity, and it was caused by an AI train arriving at a terminus. I believe it happened after I amended the end of the path to a little nearer the buffers.

Thanks Dee. I think, based on the reference number, it is a problem with AI traffic and not a static consist. I made no changes to anything before running the activity and chose to overwrite all files on install, so I cannot understand why I am getting it.

Dee, I have just run it in AE and it gives the following error:

Code: Select all

Service: DEE_AKD2_HG_TW00, path: DEE_AKD2_HG_TW started on top of another service and couldn't be placed.
followed by:

Code: Select all

Service: DEE_AKD2_HG_TW0, path: DEE_AKD2_HG_TW started on top of another service and couldn't be placed.

David, I have just downloaded the activity from here to make sure I'm using the same as everyone else. I have just run the activity as far as Hither Green and had no problems. Stopped at 1211 after uncoupling. You didn't say earlier whether the problem occurred at Hither Green the first or second time round.

Referring to the errors quoted by AE, they can be ignored. They are thrown up as the player train is held by the signal at Grove Park that has to be tabbed. AE cannot allocate the service as the path is committed to the player train which is held. In practice, once the player train has tabbed through the signal it clears the line required by the service. All sounds a bit complicated, but if you run AE you will see that the player train stops at Grove Park and doesn't move - in practice it doesn't stop!

I have managed to get past the error message and have completed the activity. I do not know what service was missing after this! A very enjoyable activity (as usual).

Glad you completed the activity, David. You didn't miss any service - you just experienced one of the quirks of running AE! :D

Yes, I have this problem on my own Activities sometimes and it's because of consists that are placed too close to buffers.

Occasionally on the MRB I've found another annoying thing - if you place a consist in, say, Swanwick Platform 3, it moves to Platform 2 which is nearest, therefore causing an error if the player starts there. :-?

Not too much of a bother though.

I have completed the activity successfully.

This was a fine end to a great series of Southern activities.

Many thanks for all the hard work you must have put in to produce these.
